Is there a way to use a flat screen monitor as a tv without using a computer?

Q. I just bought a HP 19in widescreen monitor with DVI, I want to try to hook it up to cable for a cheap flat screen for my kids bedroom. What else do I need to buy and how can I do it

A. Monitors are not designed to be used as a TV. You would need some kind of specialty convertor. I've never heard of one.

If I were you, I'd keep the monitor for yourself and buy your kid a 30" CRT TV... you can get them for under $100 now.

What are some things a first time apartment renter should look for?
Q. I'm about to move into my first apartment in a few months and I was wondering what peoples opinions were on things to look for in a first apartment. I'm a college student and I would have a budget of 0-2000 dollars a month. Anything over 1300 I would probably want to get a roommate and then would want to get something with 2 bedrooms. I know this is a lot of information but I'm basically just looking for some opinions. Plus I know people always want as much information as possible haha.

A. I suggest you DON'T get a roommate. Get something you can afford on your own. Roommates (in my experience) are more trouble than they're worth. If you take one on, and they decide, mid-lease, they don't want to live there anymore, you're still on the hook for all the rent. The landlord won't care.

Before you sign anything, make sure the apartment manager goes over every single paragraph in that lease and ASK questions if there's anything you don't understand. For instance, if the lease says "no satellite dishes allowed", that means "no satellite dishes allowed". If the lease says "satellite dishes must be approved by management and a damage deposit paid in advance," that's what you have to do.

Pay especially close attention to the penalties for breaking or terminating the lease without due cause. If you move out (either voluntarily or through eviction) before your lease term is up, you will still be responsible for the rent on the remaining months of the lease.

On a practical note, look for a place that has an onsite laundry room (laundromats are atrocious places to have to deal with on a weekly basis).

Before you even look at the INSIDE of an apartment, pay a visit to the place(s) you're interested in on a weekend or after hours -- take a look at the people you see -- go down to the pool area. Are there 87 kids running all over the place without supervision?

Look at the available parking. Are there plenty of spaces, or are cars parked against the curbs of the roads that run through the complex

Remember that when you go to look at an apartment, the one you're shown will PROBABLY not be the one you're put in. It may or may not be a model.

If you have a preference, tell the apartment manager whether you'd like to be on the ground floor or off the ground floor -- whether you'd like an end unit. Ask if you're allowed to have a charcoal or gas grill on your balcony. Ask if there's a 24 hour emergency maintenance number (if your hot water heater starts spewing hot water at 3 a.m., you'll be glad you have a number to call).

Why is the NRA responsible for all the mass shootings?
Q. So if the NRA did not exist, Columbine, VA Tech, and Sandy Hook wouldn't have happened?
What are they supposed to do? Go to the mother's house and tell her not to be so negligent with her guns? The mother knew that her son was capable of this, and she enabled this to happen. Is it the NRA's fault that the parents of the Columbine shooters didn't bother to check their kids' bedrooms? I blame liberalism on that one. Liberalism is all about protecting the privacy of others.

Just like most of us don't blame Anheuser Busch for every drunk driver, same thing with weapons. Should I lose my right to purchase alcohol because hundreds of thousands of other alcohol consumers can't handle it responsibly?

By the way, pick up an NRA publication next time. You will see that they're big on gun safety and common sense. This lady didn't take advantage of the education the NRA offers. Blame the mother who knew better.

A. It is mainly the left that wants to demonize the NRA.
Every new gun, and every NRA magazine is full of safety features and articles.
According to the libs, one crazy who stole his mom's guns somehow makes all us responsible gun owners into ticking time bombs with assault rifles hidden in our closets.

How should I do a Fairy Bedroom?
Q. I'm thinking that I'm going to do my bedroom in a fairy style. I don't want the little kid kind of fairies or disney fairies. I want more of a enchanted forest type of thing, like I actually am a fairy. Or just soft colors would be great. I'm also not looking for where you can shop for fairy stuff online or shopping at all. Give me tips on how to make a fairy room from scratch. Thanks alot!

A. Yes, doing a drape over your bed will add to everything. You can go to a fabric store and find sheer fabric that is on clearance for $1 a yard and buy about 10 yards, then just put a hook (the type like you would hang a plant from) on the ceiling and run the fabric from the floor to the ceiling and across the bed to the other side. Look up some stuff online and draw some trees on your wall, it's not that hard to do, even if your not really artistic. You can buy some green felt and cut out leaves to put on the walls. Buy some cheap glitter paint in different colors and just draw curvy lines around the walls to look like "fairy dust". Look online and you will find different ideas.
I found a website with some pictures, most of their stuff is wallpaper or painted on, but if you go to the dollar store you can find a lot of cheap vines and fake flowers and string them all over the room and windows.
