Can some one help me with color scheme ideas?

Enrique

I already cleaned my room as much as possible and I still just don't like it .Does anyone have and ideas for a good color scheme the floor is white tile with white lines .I was going to go with navy blue but I want a more happy lighter color.i want the room to look nice because the walls are crappy and none of the colors of the room match.i think we might get the lines done black thanks.

Answer
How about having 3 of your walls a light grey - something like this:

And, one wall - your feature wall - where the bed goes - in something like this blue:

http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/alfresco

And... then add blue, grey and white bedding - say perhaps something like this:

http://www.target.com/p/room-essentials-rugby-stripe-comforter-set-blue/-/A-13359051#prodSlot=medium_1_7

And... put some wall art on your walls - and if you want to add a bit of 'pop' to your room - you could add a red cushion on your bed and perhaps a red shade on a chrome base bedside lamp. The art can be in reds, blues and whites. Perhaps something like this graffiti if you like it if not think of something else i.e. you could buy some cheap art on-line or buy some artists canvases and have a go yourself:

And... perhaps buy either a blue or red rug for the side of your bed?

Hope this helps:)

4th birthday... what to do?

curious

ok, its my daughters fourth birthday the weekend of thanksgiving. It is her first "real" birthday (meaning that she has school friends to invite instead of just family) anyways. I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment, so does my mom, and my dad. last year we wen bowling, 6 adults, 12 kids, and it cost me 100$. and that was just family. what we want to do is have her party indoors with an option of outdoors if weather permits. my only issue is price. I need a room or facility or somewhere I can have a 5 hour party that wont cost me an arm and a leg. I live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Answer
You should look at prices at a nearby recreation center, that's what my mom did. We even got a bouncy house because we rented it outdoors. They have good prices and you should look on Pinterest took they have good ideas :)

Curtain and Bed set ideas for a Blue walled Bedroom with grey white carpet?

I have a Columbia blue room. On 2 walls there are 2 colors sponged on but very lightly( green and a kind of pale yellow. On the 2 other walls there is the Columbia blue but then there are darker streaks of blue. I did not paint these walls, or choose the colors, but it is not an option to repaint. I am tying to get new curtains and new bed set. For my windows there is a white rim. Do you guys have any ideas for what I could get? I also would appreciate it if you would give me a website or a picture of the room that you found the bed idea in. If not thats okay too, I would like as many ideas as possible:) thank you so much
In a few year we will be getting wood floors, I don't know if this matters but... yea haha:) Thanks again!

Answer
Wow. I'd like to see a photo of that paint job. Whew.

Well, you seem to have a good attitude about it so I commend you for that.

You definitely need to stay away from any kind of pattern in your fabrics. Go with one color and I would imagine the lighter the better, I'd imagine. White or pale yellow might be good.

Or one option might be to EMBRACE THE COLUMBIA BLUE since it is the unifying color in all the walls! Maybe get white curtains and bedspread but go with the columbia blue in all your pillows and accessories with some white accents, too!
http://uglyhousephotos.com/wordpress/?p=25204

These photos may not be your colors, but they show how plain colors are what's needed to tone down the busyness of your sponged painted walls:
http://uglyhousephotos.com/wordpress/?p=9485

Here's an idea that could help cover the busy walls and should be inexpensive. Though the photo shows several busy fabrics in the hoops (or in any shape) on a plain wall - reverse it! If you decide on a specific color then put that in hoops of several sizes to maybe tone down the walls.
http://www.happymundane.com/2007/03/fabric-wall-inspiration/

One idea I might suggest is to pick which 2 wall colors you could easiest live with, then cover the other two walls with something.

Since you cannot paint, how about ceiling to floor and wall to wall curtains? Pick one of the colors from the walls you will keep exposed, or use white, and get plain colored sheets and hang them on the walls. Ikea has great ideas on how to hang curtains but if your budget is really low, just hang them flat with staples or push pins.

If your budget is really low, get large sheets of craft paper hung with removable tape as tiles in a brick fashion: http://patterni.net/brick-pattern-tiles/

Or rolls of butcher paper, and use removable tape, staples or push pins to hang. Then, if you want, you could write or draw on your walls, too! http://www.walltowallstencils.com/gallery/fullsize/bettywatsonjohn316.jpg

Another idea is folding screens. Find them at rummage sales and paint them the color of your choice to help hide the 2 walls you want to cover up.

You can go to the dollar stores in your area and look for sheets, rugs, fabric, paper, place mats, anything inexpensively that you can use to hang. Again, I would stick with plain colors but you never know - maybe something might inspire you there and you'll come up we a great idea of your own!

Here are several ideas for you to check out. Notice in the first photo how they worked with the colors in the various patterns. That's the idea - pick UNIFYING colors.

And/or
Brown is the main color of the walls

Thank you.
(I looked on google but couldn't find anything good)

Kelsey

Okay i am 13 and this past year has been tough on my parents but we are finnaly getting more stable. we moved into a old victorian farm house 9 months ago and i gave into sharing a bedroom with my young-est sister. well i would not say i regret it but i am ready to get a new bedroom since i am a neat freak and she is a slop. pluse our room is small. there are two bedrooms down-stairs. we use one for an office and the other for a kids T.V. room. My brother uses the office everyday since he is home schooled but next school year (2013-2014) he will go to our private high school. then i will get both rooms down stairs. one for a closet and the other for a bedroom. I am very social and a perfectionest. so it will take me a while to get my ideas in order and over the next year i am going to buy and store everything i need for my new rooms. I CANT ask my parent to help me pay for the costs since they already do SOO much for me. They just bought me an ipad for school and accessories even though they could have gotten grocerys for a month. I know they L♥ve me. I want to do this totally on my own. MY plan is to have the smaller room with a medium size closet be the lounge with 2 fluffy chairs and the T.V. and book case. and a rug that i just bought. plus a small desk with a chair that can slid under it. I am looking at spending $255 with $15 of wiggle room. I want good quality but CHEAP. So how can a 13 year old girl make money? We do grow berries and all that but our harvest went towards the ipad and summer expenses. so we will have loads next year(planted over 700 plants) and i hope to get my money then. well anyone got any other ideas? Also bedroom ideas and prices would be great. good stores and websites. CHEAP is key. thnaks in advanced :)

Answer
Wow, my mind is going 100 different directions! First-good for you in taking responsibility and insisting you will pay for your comforts. Do you have recipes for those berries? The reason I ask, maybe you could share those recipes on you tube and eventually get paid by advertisers? What if you conducted tours of the berry harvest for local 4H groups that will only have to pay a $1.00/person? They could pick a few, learn how they were planted, maintained, etc. Now, for the room-there is a site for dollar store crafts. Sure, some are cheap but they do have clever crafts(such as making a puffy pillow out of
throw rugs that are cheap), get into pinterest and other people will give you ideas on cheap decor for kids rooms that you can do yourself! Good luck , kiddo.

Hey! :) I'm re-doing my room and I need new ideas ! But my budget is really tight ! :( I only have 30 dollars! So it would be better if I could make some bedroom accessories out of house hold items! Plz answer as soon as possible ! Thank u <3

Answer
There are great things that can be made from random things you can find. I am a college kid that is getting my first apartment so I am also on a very tight budget as I am also financing all of my education on my own. I have searched garage sales and estate sales in particular. A lot of times add a coat of paint and they are wonderful. Also, I have found that the DIY section and the home decor section of Pinterest have millions of ideas. If you do not already have a pinterest, it is super easy to set up just by going to www.pinterest.com and it is completely free with everything you could imagine pretty much. In the sources the third one has some different ideas for cheap bedroom do it yourselves. Hope this helps!

What should do I when I clean my room?

kids bedroom ideas pinterest
on Tips in Decorating Kids Bedroom with Attractive Furniture and Color ...

Larissa

Simply put, over break I am going to reorganize my whole room, and just everything that is mine.
Now to break it down..
Walls: We are slowly getting everything re done in our house, floors are next then walls, so no paint yet. As of now they are just drywall, so command hooks, and normal hooks don't work,
I want like pictures and stuff of me my friends, people I admire etc..
Furniture: My room is a square shape. Let's say the bottom right corner is the door. Walk in, to the left is a dresser and a TV, walk past that my desk is at an angle, past that a rocking chair, then my night stand. In the middle back wall is my bed, then to the right of that my closet. I have a window by my desk. It's small, very little walking room..
Clutter: Help. Me. Oh. My. Gosh. I have too much stuff, how do I know what to get rid of, and what not to? And how can I get rid of it? I always think "I'll need it sometime."
And what kind of storage units should I get? This kind of goes with furniture, but I have a lot of books, and stuffed animals that are just in boxes.. That I kind of want out..

Answer
i've been doing the same thing and cleaning my room, rearranging, etc and i'll hopefully be able to paint over break! so my tips:

-when going through the things u want to keep, you can either do small sections (ex-dresser one day, desk the next day) or you can do the crazy route of like everything in one day haha (the closet is the craziest!) small sections would be easier to handle.

- make piles of "keep" "donate" and "get rid of". if you cant decide if you'll need something see if you have anything similar to it. who needs 2 hairdryers? it really makes it a lot easier to keep your room clean and it looks better if you have less stuff. dont think of it as losing things, because you are gaining something -space. keep things you know you will want and use. for things you are keeping "in case", put them in a box and put it in your closet, the attic, or garage. if you haven't used it in 6 months, get rid of it. same with clothes. hang all you hangers one way and when you wear something turn the hanger around. then get rid of the stuff you havent worn after a few months. easiest tip is to keep what you need and love. if you're just keeping something in boxes (like your stuffed animals) consider donating them to kids who would play with them instead of keeping them out of sight (you can keep some if they're sentimental tho!! i did at least.. haha)

-after your room is clean you should have a lot more space. more clutter= smaller looking room. try pushing your bed against a wall or rearranging your furniture to have more space and function.

-for decor, you can look at pictures on tumblr or pinterest to see what you like. pinterest has so many diy ideas that are super cute and easy. You can hang some picture frames on command hooks if you want. One idea I saw was really cute, someone pit pictures up on a clothesline on their wall. people also put up string lights in their room which is cute. cool lighting ideas are always fun. you can get cute inexpensive bedding at ikea or target and have accessories like curtains and lamps in your favorite colors. just make your bedroom full of things that reflect you and you will love it.

ok this answer was like one of my longest ever but i guess im excited about decor since i've been doing my room. have fun!! :)

How to fit 4 kids in two 11'x11' bedrooms?

Q. I have a 7 year old daughter, a 5 year old son, and 1 year old twins (boy and girl).
Do you guys have any ideas on how to fit them into two 11 foot by 11 foot bedrooms. Should I put the girls together and the boy together or the older ones together and the twins together. How should we organize their furniture. Should we buy a specific type of furniture (bunk beds for example).
We just moved in and need HELP!!!
Thanks in advance

A. Ships captain style bunk beds. Stephen Spielberg arranges his kids' rooms like this in the book Hollywood at Home by Architectural Digest. Don't be intimidated. You can also create DIY solutions for this. Look on sites like Apartment Therapy for small space solutions. I also highly recommend Pinterest for kids and teen room boards for inspiration. I am also a big fan of Christopher Lowell's book on small spaces. You also want to maximize floor space so I suggest that all lighting is off the floor and off table space. You can choose kids' room wall sconces and ceiling lights so tables are free and floor lamps don't get knocked over.
