Kids rooms with no closets?

Apey

We are moving into a small 3 bedroom house soon (my husband, myself, and my 2 kids.. I'm also expecting our 3rd baby).. The rooms that will be my kids rooms are very small with no closets.. I'm sure I can fit a small dresser in my daughters room, however, my 1 year old boy will be sharing a room with his soon to be baby brother.. I'm afraid that a dresser won't fit in that room with 2 cribs in it. I mean, a small dresser probably will but I know i'll need more room for the boys clothes (they have alot). Any ideas or suggestions for where I can keep my kids clothes with limited space?

Answer
You need to look for narrow armoires. Focus on getting the tallest ones that will fit in the space you have. You can hang two clothes bars in them, one near the top and one near the middle to hang double the number of clothes. Be sure to bolt the armoires to the wall so they can't be tipped over into the room (kids and earthquakes can pull down anything.)
If that doesn't work I've actually seen people string strong cable from one wall to the opposite wall close the wall between and using that to hang clothes on. Of course it's in plain sight but some people like that look.

What does your bedroom look like (looking for decorating ideas)?

Q. My bedroom is in the attic. It has wood floors, beams along the ceilings, 2 big old windows, and a small bathroom attached. I painted two walls a very light green. I was going for a vintage, whimsical look. I have a double wooden bed with pink bedding and I used an old tapestry to create a canopy. I have a nightstand, big vintage trunk, bookshelf, papasan chair, pink couch, round kids table, craft desk, record player/stereo, armiore with my tv, dvd/vcr player, and video games, small mini fridge, and storage cabinet. I have alot of my own artwork and collages on the walls, twinkle lights, fake ivy, fantasy paintings, and a collage wall of posters. My bathroom is a light pink and I have a painted sink, glass cabinet, and bathtub. Beside my bathroom and the stairs is a small awkward space which I made into a little walk-in closet with my wardrobe, clothing rack, and shoe rack. I used some pull curtains to make a door.

I live in military government housing so I'm limited on painting. I can paint but then I have to put it all back to the way it was when I moved in - I'm only here for 3 years so I don't want to bother.
Since I'm military I'm kind of minimalist when it comes to decorating and furniture. My bedroom has hardwood floors, 9 foot ceilings and is about 16X16 ft. I have a bed and 2 nightstands on the entry wall and a chest of drawers and a dresser on the wall opposite. On the wall opposite the windows I have a wall type closet and 2 canvas wardrobes that take up the entire wall. I don't have a frame on my bed so the boxspring just sits on the floor. I hung a green and blue dining table runner in place of a headboard and hung black and white beach pictures directly on the runner. On the window wall on either side of the window I have shadow box picture frames with pictures I took in Hawaii, green landscapes, and a few pics of the ocean from the air when I went up in a glider. I have green and blue sheers on my window - they are layered on 2 different rods. On the wall with the chest and dressers I have hung 2 scarves that match the curtains but have gold detailing that I bought when I was in Afghanistan. I also have a pair of dark wood shelves with books and vases that I also bought in Afghanistan. My bedding is blue and green to match the curtains and the scarves. I also have a blue and gold rug on the floor that I also bought in Afghanistan. I was going for relaxing tropical resort kind of feel. On the dresser I have a carved wooden palm tree that I got in Mexico and light blue and green candle holders. None of the colors are dark but do vary in shade with the darkest being the table runner headboard with dark blue and grass green and the rest being more of a sky blue with a soft lime green.
