how would you know if that's the guy that god has chosen you to be with for life, like grow old and grey together?
Answer
It takes about a year. Some clues:
Your parents like him.
His parents like you.
You have the same general ideas about "roommate" issues; how much clutter and dirt you can stand, how often you lose the cap to the toothpaste, whether to have a dog / cat / rabbit / python or not, whether you make the bed or just close the bedroom door.
Money; how much to save every paycheck, how much to give to church/charity, how much to put into the vacation kitty.
Manners. If you both eat chicken with your fingers instead of a knife and fork, and both chew with your mouth open, fine. If neither of you do, fine again. If one does and the other thinks it rude, trouble ahead. Those are just two examples, but if your idea of Sunday Dinner is the wedding china, cloth napkins and a three-course meal with the pastor and his wife, and his is a bucket of KFC in front of a football game, with a roll of paper towels, then you are not going to be compatible.
Will he be OK if you work? Do you want to work?
How many kids do you want? Are you and he willing to give up 90% of your free time for 18 years or so, for kids? If he wants to keep playing softball / playing poker / rock climbing / etc while you take the kids to Scouts and soccer practice, you are going to feel cheated.
Statistically, your best odds for a long marriage (dull, but long) are with someone of the same race, religion, age, socioeconomic status and upbringing
Status and upbringing are not the same. There are rich people who are strict and rich ones who are lax; poor people who put their feet on the coffee table and poor ones who don't. See above, under "Sunday Dinner". Also farm kids tend to do better with other farm kids, not with city dwellers.
Note that every light romantic comedy Hollywood has ever made involve two people who do NOT match on at least one of those points, and usually on several.
I hope this helps. Best of luck in finding your special guy.

How do i get my husband back in shape?
rinny
For the last year i have been getting on my husband's case about being out of shape. Last summer he promised me he'd be in shape by april...it's almost march and no improvement. i feel terrible about bringing it up all the time, but i'm so frustrated. today i found a container of butterfinger ice cream 2/3 gone. HELP! how do i get the message across? it makes me so angry that he won't even make an effort on my behalf.

Hi, good question!
You have tried nagging him, so that's no good. Us men don't normally respond to nagging too well:-)
Their are 3 ways you can tackle this one. Firstly do you have children?
If so you could, when you are both relaxed and are able to chat without interruption, get him to think about this. Say, "You know ........ if you were a bit fitter you could actually play football/basket ball/baseball and have a good game with our kids". The other idea, maybe a little cheeky, you could suggest that "if you were fitter, we could actually have more fun in the bedroom"!
Finally, usually fitter people live longer, so the obvious line of discussion could develop their.
Hope this helps.
