old school kid computer games?

Q. well i guess not that old school but i remember playing this game when i was little and all i remember about it was like a brother and sister and they wore red and white striped shirts and overalls and you could play an unscramble game in their bedroom and you could play games in their kitchen and out back and they had a garden....i dont know its driving me crazy..

A. Broderbund wrote a lot of similar games (my children love one called "treehouse"). Sounds like one of theirs.

I do not specifically remember yours, though. Hope this helps.

whats the name of the movie ?
Q. i think it was an early 90s movie where a group of kids sit in a treehouse spying on their neighbor, who they think is a murderer. does anyone know the name?

A. "Bart of Darkness," which was aired on 04 September 1994, is the first episode of The Simpsons' sixth season. In the episode, Bart breaks his leg; his resultant isolation causes him to believe that Ned Flanders has committed murder. The episode was produced during the 1994 Northridge earthquake which held up production by a month, and is largely a parody of the film Rear Window.

A heat wave in Springfield leads Bart and Lisa to pester Homer for a swimming pool, who, to avoid months of nagging, gives in. Word soon spreads that the Simpsons have a pool and every child in the town comes to use the new facility. After being dared, Bart attempts an ambitious dive into the pool. However, after being distracted by Nelson, he falls and breaks his leg. This forces him to spend the rest of the summer wearing a cast and, unable to socialize with the other kids, he withdraws into his bedroom. His isolation slowly makes him more and more irritable and paranoid. Lisa loans Bart her telescope to entertain him. Soon, Bart hears a scream next door, and witnesses Ned Flanders burying something in his backyard. He becomes convinced that Flanders has murdered his wife Maude, and vows to reveal the truth.

Another movie that has the same plot is "Clubhouse Detectives (1995)." After one of the kids becomes suspicious that foul play may be involved, five young sleuths tip-toe their way to solving a mystery involving a missing neighbor.

Are my kids too young for a treehouse?
Q. I have four children: twin girls aged 6, a (nearly) 4 year old boy and a two month old baby.

My twins are turning 7 in April, and my husband suggested building them a treehouse. We have a huge oak in our back garden which he could use. We would obviously check for planning permisson etc.

He is an architect so he has worked out that he can fit two rooms up there, which would sleep 2 adults or 2 - 4 children if they wanted a fun and exciting sleepover. Otherwise it would just be for playing in. A mini kitchen and a mini bedroom.
He wants to build something like this:

BUT the tree is not nearly so tall. It is much much lower but stockier.

Do you think it would be too dangerous? We wouldn't let the other kids up there until they were about 7 themselves, so it would be just for the twins for another 3 years.

A. Go for it. If you are concerned, perhaps a safety net could be placed although since your husband is an architect he can build in safety factors. Your kids will be in 7th Heaven! I always wanted a tree house.

Neighbour building a treehouse which looks in to my bedroom window, is this allowed?
Q. I moved in to the upstairs flat of a detached cottage flat (one flat upstairs and one downstairs) around a year ago and my downstairs neighbour has recently built a treehouse for his kids. The problem is the treehouse is it such a height that whoever is in the there can see right in to my bedroom window. I've asked them before to stop allowing kids in to the treehouse for the above reason, they complied and took down the ladder to it but only for about a week.

I'm really not comfortable with the idea of anyone being able to see in to my bedroom window (which is why I moved in to a top floor flat) and I was wondering if there was any legal way to ask them to take it down?
Thanks for all the info. It wouldn't really bother me so much if it was just the kids that were in there, it's just that my neighbour himself (a man well in to his forties) also just sits in the treehouse quite often. It just makes me really uncomfortable. But if there's nothing i can do then so be it i suppose.

Thanks again to everyone!

A. Your only legal recourse would be if there are any ordinances against treehouses in your area- then you could have them take it down. If you want to be known as the witchy neighbor you could report them to see if they have the proper permits.

A much simpler- and more neighborly- option is putting up window treatments.
