How to make a queen size platform bed fit a full mattress?

Q. I have a platform bed that is supposed to fit a queen or a king sized mattress but there is about a foot of open space and it looks really bad. Its a white bed but the open space looks lie a cork board but it is wood. Any ideas?

A. My kid had that problem, so he just stole a spare queensize mattress from another bedroom (our house had lots of furniture left behind) and put the full size mattress on it. It looked dumb at first until his mom covered it with a dark, fitted sheet. Not it looks kind of exotic, like it was meant to be that way.

I want to dispose my used furniture to make room for new furniture for my kids. Can u suggest something?
Q. I have two bedrooms for my kids. One is a queen set with a chest & dresser mirror, and other one is a twin bunkbed with a dresser mirror and a study desk.

A. Either try and sell it on Craigslist or donate it to a thrift store, preferably one who's profits go to a charity instead of money wanting Value Village. If you know someone with kids who would like your furniture, you could also offer it to them.

What color should my comforter and bedroom accessories be?
Q. My bedroom walls are "the hulk" green (hand-me-down room from my brother) and my bed frame is white. I bought two small pink pillows and i don't know what color to buy my comforter or book shelf in. the room is a little tight on space, especially with the size of my bed. i don't want more white furniture and i don't want to overdo it with color. what colors do you suggest? :)

A. Chocolate and pink comforter is perfect for your room,
purple/lavender also coordinates with green and pink.

How do I fix a new apartment from scratch?
Q. I'm going through a divorce and have to start over again.
I really don't know where to start , with cash being tight right now.
any help would be most appreciated.
Thank You one and All.

A. Im sorry for what youre going through, that must be really difficult. however, there is a bright side! youll be out of your crappy relationship soon and on your feet in no time...

as for your question...

I had next to noooo money when I moved into my new apartment. Craigslist and IKEA were seriously lifesavers. I got a set of REALLY NICE couches on craigslist, the woman I got them from was looking to have her floors redone and just wnated them out of her house by the next morning...perfectly nice, modern looking couch and loveseat for FREE. I also got my matress set from craigslist, from some kid who was moving, spur of the moment out to cali (I live in boston) and needed to sell his almost new jordans furniture queen sized mattress and boxsprings...I got them under a year old, valued at 1200 for only 200 bucks. If you look, and you must look, and be vigilent you can seriously find the most amazing deals on craigslist. I have a beautiful apartment, all of my friends comment on how gorgeous it is when they come over for the first time, and seriously to furnish two bedrooms, living room, kitchen total I must've spend less then $1500 bucks. which, when you think of it, is a steal. and Im including the prices of flatwear, kitchen wear etc. that I got all from IKEA so inexpensively. Good luck, it can be done! You just have to be creative
