My children's room has something on every wall. The first is the entry wall it has the door right in the middle, the wall to the right has a large window on the left side (with window sill) which meets with the back wall and also has a large window and window sill and the left wall has the closet... It's a small bedroom and now both my kids have to share the bedroom... I have no idea how to make it look decent. It's cluttered and I'm lost as how to make it work :( any ideas will help!

Answer
I would use the wooden cubes with baskets. They can be stacked in any way you want (consider sticking them to the wall in the back.

I would lay then down on their side under the window and then one on each side of the window upright maybe. You can get two colors of baskets, one for each kid so they know whose is whose.

Anyone have any creative ideas involving housing a family of four in a two-bedroom apartment?

There are two adults and two children (ages 8 and 6) in the family, and I'm looking for a cteative way to house us in a two-bedroom apartment. Since I have one girl and one boy, each has one bedroom right now, and my boyfriend and I sleep on a futon in the living room and I share the closet with my daughter, he shares the one in my son's room. It's nice for the kids because they each have a fairly large room to themselves, but my boyfriend and I don't have much privacy! I'm trying to think of other ways to make the situation work....and we're looking at another apartment, also with only 2 bedrooms (because getting a three-bedroom where we live is very difficult and it costs almost twice as much as a two-bedroom!). Anwyay, this new apartment we're considering has one of it's bathrooms in the master bedroom, which means whichever kid gets that room will get the bathroom and the other three of us will have to share the remaining bathroom. Is there another way we could set things up?
We like where we live (a block from the beach) and don't want to move to another area!! :P
I really don't feel it's appropriate for an 8 year old girl and a 6 year old boy to be sharing a room (in fact, in some states, it's illegal, if I'm not mistaken!)

Answer
Yes, I know it's taboo and you may be giving them ideas that they can do what you and your boyfriend do. On the assumption that you and your boyfriend are their parents then you can use the, mommies and daddies sleep in the same room concept or you don't do this until you're reached age ___. I don't like the idea of room sharing/division in such a skewed way as you're suggesting with a master bathroom.

You can use room partitions or a camping theme and put the kids in the same room. Bunk beds will give it a more camp like theme.

Or, you can use a princess/knight concept. Knights are the protectors of their ladies, therefore there isn't any "weird" message. However, each of their bunks could have curtains or sheers of some sort from modesty.

Or you could blend the two.

You could also have them pretend they are cars from the movie Cars. I don't believe they show any of the Cars sharing a "garage" in the movie.

That's my two cents. Hope it helps.
