My 7yo son is obsessed with tires. He can't keep his hands off them! He can identify all our extended family's cars by the treads.... he can tell immediately upon going outside if my tires have been rotated or changed... he loves to roll around old tires at my husband's repair shop.... I found a tire distributor website and bookmarked it for him, and he spent TWO HOURS browsing the first time I let him look... you get the idea now?
So I'm looking for a way to incorporate tires into his bedroom decor, and I'm at a loss! Short of using real tires, I don't even know where to begin -- and since real tires leave greasy, black marks on everything, that's out.
Can anyone give ideas? Thanks!
Answer
The more I think about it, the more I believe this could be a very cool room! Rather artsy, in fact ... the whole concept of the black ring...
Maybe this will give you some ideas? It's a race car bedroom.

What about a tire swing? They don't get my kids' clothes dirty :) Perhaps you could use a couple of those instead of real tires? You could perhaps stack them and put a plexiglass ring on top for a bedside table?
I think I saw an article about making a tire swing. The fellow varnished an old motorcycle tire. He suggested "Clean and wash the tire as best you can to avoid getting black rubber marks smudged on the clothes of everyone that swings. Take the tire to a self service auto wash and use their power sprays and scrubbers to really clean the tire of build up. "
Here's a bicycle tire wall clock...

And a bedside clock that I bet he'll LOVE!

These stools are a bit expensive, but have a look...

Tire tracks on curtains and valance? Up the closet door? Around the perimeter of the room (like a tire-track stripe)?
