Ideas on how to turn a basement into a little place for kids?

Q. I was thinking on creating different spaces for them. A kitchen/dining room, living room, office, and possibly a bedroom area. I was thinking of dividing the "rooms" with king size sheets, hung in a neat manner. Our basement isn't finished or anything (drywall/paint, etc) but is in good enough shape to have a little fun with it. I don't know if I am allowed to paint or put anything on the floor (except carpet...not tacked down) And ideas, thoughts, tips? It doesn't have to be perfect....my little ones are just happy to have a place to play. Budget is small~creativity is limitless. THANKS!

A. A table or old desk for a craft area. Then hang baskets or an old shoe organizer to put craft materials in:glue, paint, brushes, crayons, markers, scissors, glitter, stickers, etc.

Old file cabinet painted a funky color to hold materails like paper and finished projects. you can also hang a clothes line for them to clip paintings on to dry and to display finished works of art!

Maybe in one area, you could put a bunch of thick blankets and floor pillows down for a cozy pallet/nest to nap on.

Not sure how old your kids are or if they are boys/girls, but you could have an area with books, and puzzles, another make believe area with dress up stuff and "props" (umbrella, old high heels, old halloween wigs, feather boa, purses)... I loved to play "kitchen" when I was littel. If they have a play kitchen then when you run out of food, save the boxes/jars/containers for them to play "kitchen" with. Any old plastic dishes you don't use anymore... or if they don't have a kitchen, 2 chairs and table will work! A big box or set of shelves can hold the "food".

Lots of mirrors since I doubt the basement has many windows...Let the kids create the art and frame it in an old frame and decorate with those! You can even create with them and hang your work on the wall too!

What is the easiest way to decorate little boy bedrooms?
Q. Okay here we go they love to play of course so need some ideas for keeping toys organized. And decorating ideas 2 boys to a bedroom and does any one have any ideas for a replacement for blinds. They destroy them and I don't care for blinds anyways I need a fresh idea to block the sun and get rid of blinds!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!

A. As far as the blinds go, I would suggest a full window shade instead. It won't have the cords and vinyl pieces for them to break, like traditional mini blinds have. They're much easier for children and at the same time, very stylish.

With the decorating, don't spend too much because their interests change quickly.

Here's a good one on decorating

What would be your dream kids and family?
Q. Please include kids names, where you would live, what kind of house, description of kids, your husband, family vacations, and pets. Pictures would be great too! This is just for fun, I want to hear what your dream kids and family would be like. 10 points to best answer! Thanks ♥

A. My house would be something small, but cosy. There would be enough room for me, my husband, the kids and pets. 4 bedrooms, big garden, double garage and en-suite bathrooms.

I would marry my husband in a small reception, with not many people. We would marry in a hotel, as neither of us are religious. There will only be a few close friends and family as guests, and we wouldn't have an evening reception.
My dress would be white with small detailing around the waist and chest area.

My husband would be a caring and compassionate guy that would always be there for the kids and me. He would have a job as a manager in large business, something involving computers and electronics.

My job would be a detective for the county's police station.

I would have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl.

My first born would be a son, named Oliver Samuel. He looks like his mum, and has her brown hair and blue eyes. He has an analytical mind and loves solving problems. He was always good at maths and science, and went on to become a chemist making medicines in a lab. He marries his childhood best friend, Alison and they have two children together: Joseph Oliver and Charlotte Alison.

My second born would be another boy, who I would name Lucas Anthony. He has blonde hair and green eyes, and doesn't look like either of his parents. He's a very creative boy and excelled in art and design at school. He became an art teacher and married a girl he met at college, Samantha. They only had one child, Matilda Rae but adopted a little girl from China, Li Mei.

My third child would be yet another boy, who would be named Mitchell Joseph. He goes by Mitch, and was a popular child. He was outgoing, but sensible. He has brown hair and blue eyes, and looks like his older brother, Oliver. He becomes a private music teacher and teaches mainly guitar and drums to school children. He marries a girl he met at a cafe once, named Laura, and they have three sons; Thomas James, Nathaniel Connor and Finley Matthew.

My last would be a little girl named Emily Katherine. She has brown hair and hazel eyes, and looks a lot like her mum. She loves animals, and has a gift with them. Her best friend is Alex, who she met at playgroup, when she was 3. They marry eachother in the future, and have two daughters; Caroline Rosalie and Cecilia Jane. She is a vet and is well-known across the town for her kindness and gift with animals.

I have two cats, Tommy and Benji. They are brothers and we got them from my brother, who breeds them. Emily loves Tommy and she always plays with him. Benji is a shy cat, and likes to play with Oliver.
