How to split up the rooms between 4 kids?

Q. 4 bedrooms
-1 for parents
How to divide up the remaining 3 rooms between 19 yo boy, 14 yo girl, 5 yo girl, and baby girl
When they get older should we change up the situation?

Also we have an unfinished basement but no one really wants to live there but maybe storage? What could we do for that

A. I would say the baby should be in your room just because you are probably going to have to check on her a lot and don't want to wake the 5 year old constantly. Then everyone else gets their own room. Maybe the 5 year old can share when the baby turns 2 or so for a couple of years. Presumably the 19 year old will be moving out in a couple of years and then everyone gets their own room.

Should I put my oldest alone and put the other 3 together, or give my daughter her own room and put the boys together? Any suggestions?

A. I dont think you should put your daughter with the boys, it seems wrong and in some states i believe it is illegal

A. Crib for the 11 month old, bunk beds for the 4 and 2 year old. 2 year old gets the bottom bed. Paint the room a gender neutral color, like yellow or a creme color. One side is for the girls to keep their things and the other is for the boy. Get separate trunks for their toys and let them help decorate too. Separate closets if available, if not, divide it equally, one side for each. Make sure there are no heavy items that can fall on the children. Bolt them down if necessary. Install child safety locks on drawers and doors if necessary. Kids are curious and will inevitably get into trouble at some point. Good luck.

how can you make a shared space separate?

Q. We have a 7 year old daughter and are now looking to finally have another child. Our concern is that we live in a 2 bedroom house. We have no intention of moving as this is not an option for us at this time. I have no issues allowing both children to stay in the same room, but I need some guidance as to how to make this space special for both. The room is only a 10x10 space.

A. Screens are the best...you can buy some really nice ones or use good old fashioned narrow louvre doors hinged 2gether...painted a nice bright colour. I used them to divide a room for an office...works well. If the kids don't mind seeing each other you could suspend door beads from the roof...pretty ones with butterflies or something...Good for BIG kids like me too!..or something more solid just a 3/4 panel enough to give them privacy where they sleep...and share the rest of the room...hope this helps :)
