Camping Room Ideas for a Toddler Boy?

Q. Our son has a camping theme room, fairly good size room. We painted it Limey Grassy Green and it has tan carpet and white ceilings with a white ceiling fan. He has 2 giant Leaves over his light wooden twin bed (leaves are from Ikea). He has camping themed bedding and bug sheets (although I'd be interested in finding another set of the bug sheets - we got the bedding set from Target on clearance a couple years ago). He has a matching lamp with scout patches on it. He has a nightstand and a dresser with a mirror on it. My dad is making him a canoe bookshelf (either red or navy blue). He just has regular blinds on his windows right now. Oh, and a big green bug light on his wall. Along the wall that the big leaves and his bed is on, we have his name letters - navy blue from Pottery Barn Kids. Any ideas for things to put on his dresser and bookshelf? Also, we could use 1 or 2 big pictures for his wall!

A. How absolutely FUN! I did one of my son's room in a similar theme many years ago! His was more western, but outdoorsy just the same. I used bright red bandannas to make a valance over his miniblinds, with the points hanging down. Looked really cute.

Some camping ideas...

Cover a round hassock/footstool in a wood grain pattern fabric, or use canvas and paint it to look like a tree stump.

Old bamboo fishing poles for a valance curtain rod, hang fabric (maybe a cute fish print? Run to the fabric store!) using thin rope or string tied as loops through grommets. Old oars would work too, or new ones brightly painted, and you could staple the fabric to the back and then mount them using L brackets over the window.

I love these! http://www.collectionsetc.com/Item50462.aspx

Glow in the dark decals in the shape of stars for his ceiling? They are available practically everywhere, check Walmart!

And where are the little darling's toys going? A little pup tent or teepee maybe? Or even a small inflatable raft or canoe to match the book shelf gramps is making!

A bug rug http://www.terrysvillage.com/tvweb/application?namespace=browse&origin=categoryDisplay.jsp&event=link.itemDetails&sku=91/3276&mode=Browsing&catDestinationJSP=/browse/categoryForward.jsp?categoryId=122686

Time can be directional! Paint a round clock face to look like a compass!

Oh, dear, I'm affraid I could go on and on the more I think about it. But one thing for sure, if it's a camping bedroom he NEEDS this, LOL! http://www.signals.com/signals/Shop-By-Theme_5AA/Nature_5AM/Item_Faux-Fireflies-Jar_HA7432_ps_cti-5AM.html

Just have fun with it! I'd love to be able to see what it turns into!

Need a theme for a preteen girls bedroom.Need something that she will like now and wont be "kiddie" in a few?
Q. years!. she is 11 and not to picky but her fav color is purple and the room is on the smaller side. But i just want something I can do now and when she is 17 it wont look like shes sleeping in her little sisters room.

A. Okay.
If you paint it dark purple, it will look smaller.
If you paint it too light you run into little kid.
That being said....do i medium BRIGHT purple, with a vivid green trim, it will fun now, and can be funky later. I'm not sure on your budget, but paint isnt too expensive, so if she outgrows/changes her favorite color, its not expensive to re do. Also when she's a teen you can make her pay for it herself, or earn the money for it by doing chores, help with your other daughter, yard work etc.
Some cheap add ons that can be removed when she gets older/tastes change are wall decals. Wal Mart Target Lowes and Home Depot all carry them for a pretty cheap price. (Home Depot and Lowes are a little better quality/variety, maybe 2-3 dollars more.) That way it can personalized with out spending too much or skipping them all together and looking generic.
Solid color curtains she cannot out grow. Pick a color that compliments the paint. Dark purple with the bright purple would be really pretty, and regulate the temp of her room (which will save money)
A nice green accent rug, square or round, stay away from items with stuff on them, she'll out grow it or hate it eventually.
Painting her furniture black would "age" the room also. However, white would be fine also.
Now.
Are you doing bedding?
If so, choose a colorful fun blanket/sheet set. Bed in bags are available at many retail stores for not too much money. Choose patterns or geometric prints. Butterflies are always girly but sometimes end up being juvenille.
If she has posters, get some inexpenisve poster frames in silver, it can really pull her room together, and she can change out the pictures/posters as she grows, and take them on to college. Its a great way to have her room look polished. (try Michaels')
Last but not least.
Silk flowers can be used in so many ways and are not expensive at all, you can use them to tie back curtains, decorate walls, borders, desks, chairs, lamps curtains bookshelves. Glue them to the lamp shade to make her old lamp new. When shes over it, pull them off.
Also, fun shaped Christmas lights add something funky and fun to a room without costing too much. Now they can provide comfort visability at night, when shes older they can just be fun.
I don't know, hope I helped.

Can you put up some pictures of your bedroom, i need ideas pronto...?

Good plans for decorating a new apartment?
Q. My friend recently bought a new apartment, but we have no clear idea to decorate it. Online stores are cheaper, but lots of choices make us confused. ps: it has a living room, two bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom. My friend, his wife and his one-year body will live there. I knew the smaller bedroon fits for bodyroom. But how to decorate the kid room? and other rooms???

A. hi. I agree with one of the above suggestions that is to listen to the child's idea when it comes to the decoration of kid room. sometimes the partent may think the child like the disney cartoon theme, but the child he himeself may like the sea pirate themed room. after all it is the room for the kids so you'd better make the room liked by him. the wall decals may help a lot for decorating and highlighting a room. the funnystickers.com.au is a reliable online store offering lots of funny wall decals. maybe you can go there for a look.
