How to fit 4 kids in two 11'x11' bedrooms?

Skye

I have a 7 year old daughter, a 5 year old son, and 1 year old twins (boy and girl).
Do you guys have any ideas on how to fit them into two 11 foot by 11 foot bedrooms. Should I put the girls together and the boy together or the older ones together and the twins together. How should we organize their furniture. Should we buy a specific type of furniture (bunk beds for example).
We just moved in and need HELP!!!
Thanks in advance

Answer
Ships captain style bunk beds. Stephen Spielberg arranges his kids' rooms like this in the book Hollywood at Home by Architectural Digest. Don't be intimidated. You can also create DIY solutions for this. Look on sites like Apartment Therapy for small space solutions. I also highly recommend Pinterest for kids and teen room boards for inspiration. I am also a big fan of Christopher Lowell's book on small spaces. You also want to maximize floor space so I suggest that all lighting is off the floor and off table space. You can choose kids' room wall sconces and ceiling lights so tables are free and floor lamps don't get knocked over.

What are some things to do with 3 extra rooms?

Jade

If you had 3 extra bedrooms with closet's, what are some things you could do with them? This is a family house with one kid and both parents, no one else.

Answer
U can turn one into a game room for the kid, nd another one into a small gym, nd the other one into a office or guest room, or a all movie theme kinda room.

What priviledge does a single-mom have with the bedroom size with a boy and girl?

wildflower

I am a single mom of a boy age 8 and a girl age 10. We have lived in my mothers's basement sharing the same space for 6 years, now we have a 2 bedroom apartment and I being the parent took the larger room and gave the children the smaller room. I have not received to much applause for doing that from the grandparents but everyone else, such as friends and my sister thinks it's the priviledge of being the parent and the children should graduate to a larger room after cleaning and learning to keep their smaller room in order. I just want to know what others think about this set up I have with my kids.

Answer
If it were me, I would take the smaller room since they are sharing one.

Would you move into a manufactured home if someone bought you it?

Nona

So my uncle is willing to buy me and my family a manufactured home from my cousin because my cousin needs a bigger place because he has a ton of kids. Anyways, it would be paid in full we would just pay lot rent.

I have a husband and a 2 year old daughter, we currently live in a 2 bedroom small apartment. Room is tight. We can't qualify for a mortgage loan for a house because the new law is that if you owe more than $1000 in collections you won't qualify for an FHA loan. So my uncle offered to pay off the manufactured home and sign the title to us and all. Here is a link the what it looks like (not the same one but almost identical)

This would be our only hopes of getting into a real home anytime soon,,and we would like to be settled into a home before our daughter starts school..I guess my question is, would we be stupid to pass up basically a free home? I'm a little worried people might call us trailer trash or something because it is in a "mobile home community"..what would you do?
There would be no strings attached..it would be ours. And taxes on it are only $150 per year.. whoever rents the lot pays it, which would be us.
I guess my real question is would you pass it up just because it's a "mobile home"

Answer
If I were in your position I would take it. you can always sell it and buy a house with the money before your daughter is in school.

How many children is it physically possible for a woman to have?

PeonyTea

I know this woman who lives in a three bedroom apartment, and is now having twins, making it now 14 children that she has. The bedrooms are small, and have a minimum of four beds in each room, minus her and her husband's room. I don't think this is wise, and she may have a case soon because a majority of these kids are under 10 years old, and they are both unemployed so they can't possibly be feeding them right.

Anyway, I'm curious as to how much children are you able to have before you can't anymore?

Answer
The record is 69, but they were all multiples - twins through quads. It varies by individual, age when they start, how frequently they have children, etc. Generally the spacing would be about a year apart, although some go closer together. So if a woman starts at 18 and keeps having a baby a year until they are 48, they could have 30 children (if none are multiples). However, fertility slows down as you age and the uterus starts to fail after so many children and can even drop out the vagina. It also becomes too weak and may not be able to hold a pregnancy. What it gets down to is age and failure of the uterus, not number.

Sadly, there is a group called Quiverfull that encourage families (under false biblical ideas) to have as many children as god will give them. And of course the Catholic church is against anything but the rhythm method, which doesn't work very well.

They can be feeding them right. They probably get food stamps and maybe go to food banks, where you can get fruits and veggies as well as canned food.

I'm curious why you say "she has" 14 kids. Isn't it "they have"? The man is equally responsible.

How can i Kill and eliminate pee odors in a room?

I need to now what works best on getting rid of pee smells and killing other bacterial smells in a kids bedroom.

Answer
It would help to be more specific on where the pee is really coming from.. Is it a mattress, rug.. ? Diaper pail...

If it's a mattress.. You have a couple options...

Go to pet supply store and get odorban/odor gone./urinegone...all work with bacteria to eliminate urine odors/germs

Scrub mattress with soft scrub brush, small amount of laundry soap w/ baking soda added.. Let dry.... Make sure you have funs running to circulater air...

Dry mattress- sprinkle mattress with baking soda and let it sit for a few hours... vacuum up baking soda....

Give the mattress a good spray with lysol disenfectant and let it dry..

* I would purchase a waterproof mattress pad that you can just chuck into the washer when it's wet... They aren't expensive and they aren't plastic anymore !!!

If it's on the carpeting- rent a cleaner and steam clean the carpets..

Diaper pail... put a box of baking soda in the bottom to absorb smells and use a lidded basket/pail.. Empty daily... Use plastic liners...

I have a small bedroom with small bathroom for my son is one and a half years also my daughter 3 years old. The paint wall is dark blue and I’m confused how to make the decoration of this room. So I need somebody to help me for the decorations and details by photos.

Answer
Don't do plain colours!

These are very young children, so I would decorate Disney. Good for boys and girls. Disney fixtures, fittings and coverings are sometimes more expensive than plain; but is a simple solution.

How can we get our new cat to socialize?

john w

ok, basically, our problem is this, we have four cats. One momma cat and three kittens. about five days ago my wife opened the door and right there on the porch, there's a half starved five month old kitten who just walks right up to her.

We expected the usual two or three days of problems with the other cats, but we're still having troubles. Diva and her kittens keep themselves to the kitchen and our room, while Stranger stays around the living room and the kids bedroom and refuses to go into the other end of the house at all. The kittens come around every now and again, but she just hisses at them and they retreat to their end of the house. They just refuse to realise that they're all in one house together and that's how it's going to be.

Answer
You're obviously cat-smart people and have had lots of experience with them. Even when we know them well, their behaviours can still surprise and dismay us.
Your cats are acting as they would in the wild, not as house-trained pets. A five month old kitten is right next door to sexual maturity, no matter how starved and small it is. Diva and her kittens are really afraid of the new cat because cats (especially males) will kill kittens in the wild. And your Stranger is afraid of and hostile to any other kittens - afraid the the mother will kill him and hostile to any competition for food. I recommend not allowing the newcomer to get close to the kittens for at least a week. If possible keep it in one room for a couple of days until it calms down. Pet the other kittens right before you feed the newcomer, which will transfer the smell of the other kittens to its dish. It will begin to associate their smells with food. Do the same thing to Diva and her kittens - touch the newcomer and transfer its smell to their dishes. Once everyone is used to each other's smells you'll have a more relaxed group. And by the way, it was so kind of you to take in the new little cat. Hope it works out for all of you.

How to get cool air in from window in a room that quickly heats up?

kids bedroom small rooms

kids bedroom small rooms image

blue_lone_

I live on the top floor of a 4 bedroom apartment with a mini fridge in my room and it gets unusually hot during the day even with the blinds closed with the window a tad opened. I open my door and the windows in the living room but I can't seem to get any circulation going (My room is at the end, go straight 5m, then left 5m, then left 5m to the living room). Even during the cool night time it gets pretty hot yet no air is circulating out of the window with or without the door opened. Thus, my room usually stays about 5-6 degrees hotter than outside. Can a mini fridge really generate that much heat (I've tuned it down as low as possible) and any reasons why the air isn't coming in? BTW it's a small room 7x14 feet. I'm also curious how this'll turn out in the winter time if someone can answer that as well.
If I moved my mini fridge to the back of the room or at least futher away from the window, could that cause some cold air to circulate in? Since the hot air from the fridge would rise, then it would travel to the window and the window would return the air? Because right now it's close to the window.

Answer
instead of trying to pull air from the outside in , turn the fan so it blows the inside air out, it will draw cooler air to your room , i had an upstairs room in Nevada growing up as a kid , and that's the way i found
