bedroom makeovers. 12 and 8 years old. ideas?

Mareeeeee

my littlest sisters are redoing their room. where can you find cute rooms other than pottery barn. theyre not a fan of pink. any bedspreads or suggestions for wall color? thankss=] and please leave links! (they have twin beds)

Answer
If they don't like pink than I am very glad because I think that is so cliche. Do either of your sister like light blue or light green. I would suggest that you paint their rooms these colors. One of them get the light blue and the other light green.

For the eight year old I suggest something similar to this. Of course she will want to personalize it to her taste and this bed will be replaces with a twin bed but I like the general idea.

For the twelve year old I suggest the green room, plus she will soon be a teenager and not a little kid so she will want more of a mature room. Take this room and replace the pink and red stuff with a light green or perhaps orange. Does she like orange? Also add a few more black accents instead of completely white, because that looks a little too feminine and little girlish.

I hope I have helped.

What are original ideas for decorating a teenage girl's bedroom?

I'm a 13 year old girl interested in art and music and I need to redecorate my room. It is all pink and little-kid-ish and I'm sick of it. I have a friend who put Christmas lights around the top of her room and I was kind of going for that original style. Any ideas?

Answer
Hello There,

We all like a nice peaceful retreat and definitely our bedroom is one of those places. I have a 13 year old and we redid her room when she was 12 (last year).

1. We painted her room with silver blue and white (Behr satin finish). Two walls blue, two walls white.

2. We then chose two paintings (from Marshalls) One was a blue hues ocean scene with waves with a white finish frame and the other was a blue painted frame of teenagers playing in the water by the ocean side. It has more light to it. We placed that on the blue wall. We also added a silver oval framed mirror and and rectangular family picture collage frame.

If you really want a string of lights you can hang it along the window.

3. Her bedding is a mixture of different shades of blue, yellow and fuchcia. It is a very peaceful room..

4.We also put a small microwave kitchen cart in her room where she has a terrarium with seashells sitting on top of it. The shelves hold her school supplies. . You can find this at the resource below.

I wish I could show you a picture but it is truly a retreat for her.

This is not an expensive makeover. Follow what we did and choose your own colors. Walmart, Target and Marshalls are all great stores.Discuss it with your parents and
email me if you have any questions.

Happy decorating,

i have 2 boys aged 3 and 2 and a little girl who is 1, the bedroom was decorated as thomas the tank engine before but kids being kids have ripped the wallpaper down so i want to paint it in colours to suit all 3, i was thinking of doing 2 walls baby pink and 2 walls baby blue but not sure now! any ideas?

Answer
play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/

I think it would be a good idea to choose a gender neutral color for the whole room, like "trusty tan" (# 6087).

You can also take a photo of your room & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:
http://www.roomvues.com/
You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

Can you help with Unisex bedroom ideas?

My children will be sharing a bedroom. My son is 6, and my daughter will be 3 this month. Does anyone have any design ideas that will make them both feel at home? I'm a single mom, so budget is a big factor to consider. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Rubber duckies are always cute. My sister's kids' bathroom had a whole makeover just by adding a new shower curtain, toothbrush holder, rug, and framed photo all of rubber duckies. I think she got the stuff at WalMart. I love it for a kids' bathroom.

EDIT: I'm so sorry I misread that and thought it said bathroom.
A cute unisex idea for a bedroom is a jungle theme or even just using coordinating colors on the bedding. A red, white, and blue patriotic theme would be really cute, and easy too. One could have a navy blue comforter and the other could have a red comforter with white sheets. Then you can find all kinds of stars and stripes stuff cheap at thrift stores and again, at WalMart/Kmart/TJ Maxx - whatever you have near you. Good luck!

What home makeover show is this?

Guten Tag!

I can't remember the name but the show is a home makeover show where they redo a room(s) but as part of the show they give the home owners tips on how to make lives eaiser. In the one episode I saw it was a husband and wife and two kids, they had the bedroom made over and they showed the wife how to make chicken tortilla soup. Any ideas?

My room is so plain. I need ideas on how to decorate it?

justANOTHE

Im recently divorced and just moved to a new house with my kids. But my bedroom looks so plain, im not sure how to decorate it. I have a bed, dresser, and 2 night stands. Help!

Answer
Well since you have your basics, it's time to JAZZ up the place!!! I think a good place to start is by thinking of the amount of your budget for your room makeover. It's easy to say you want to do something different until you actually start shopping for it. So having a ballpark idea of your finances towards this project is a great start. Secondly, figure out the type of atmosphere/ambiance you want in YOUR room. I know it has to be different going from 2 to 1, but that's where you get the freedom to express yourself without considering anyone else. This will help with choosing a paint color for your room (if you decide to do so), and we know paint sets good tones. I am a BIG FAN of the accent wall (which is painting one wall in the bedroom one BOLD color, allowing the others to remain white). Or going with a nice neutral tone throughout the room works just as well.

After you've figured all that out you can begin to have fun with the rest!!!
1. Choose a bedding that helps amplify the atmosphere of your room. Whichever works best for you!!!
2. If you choose to do an accent wall, I'd find a nice piece of art to hang over my headboard. That will create a focal point in the room. Even if not, I'd still accent a wall with nice and understated wall art to give the space decor.
3. Track lighting is a nice decor idea to add a little serenity to your space. It's something to consider, but not a must have.
4. DECORATE!!!! Take the colors you have chosen for your room and use it throughout the room in decor such as lights/lamps, rugs, wall arts, candles, etc.

ANOTHER IDEA: Since you're down to the basics, why clutter the room with unnecessary decorations. Knowing how to create a feng shui environment, I heard, is AMAZING. It's decorating in a sense that you only keep EXACTLY what you need and use, as to keep the harmony of your space tranquil. Here's info about that: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=great%20atmospheres%20for%20the%20bedroom&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&biw=1276&bih=697&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=iw&ei=IukrUKzgMY24qQGa-YCgDA#hl=en&sclient=psy-ab&q=feng+shui&oq=fung+sh&gs_l=serp.1.1.0j0i10j0l2.1308.4453.0.7191.13.10.2.1.1.3.754.2648.3j3j1j1j0j1j1.10.0.les%3Bcrnk_fspiked..0.0...1c.2gl7astDy0w&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&fp=f1f678cb2a5bd7d8&biw=1276&bih=697

A lot of info but I hope it helps!!
