ideas for a 3 year old and 1 year old boy's bedroom?

we just bought a new house and we have less than a month and a half to get it all together and move in...my biggest dilemma is how to decorate my boys' rooms. My 3 year old loves everything and anything so it's hard to choose one theme and my youngest will be 1 in may so anything is okay. ideas? suggestions on paint, themes, stores, online sites, pictures, anything and everything will be helpful! i clearly lack creativity....

Don't put pictures up, or something that they are EXTREMELY crazy about. In about 2 months, it'll tide over and they'll hate their room or be bored of it.

I suggest taking one or two colors both boys like a lot and making stripes around the room. Horizontal, vertical, thin, thick, irregular, pinstripe. That kind of thing. I suggest blue and white. White siding, and a nice sky blue with navy blue stripes would look good for a boy's room. Make a few example of stripy designs on a piece of paper and have them look and see which they like best.

After painting the room, get furniture or decor that will be both good-looking, but useful (useful meaning the same thing as "fun for little kids"). Bunk beds that are not too high off of the ground, beds with drawers underneath. That kind of stuff.

I promise you, if you go to an Ikea and walk into the kid's section, you're mind will be overloaded with the burst of creativity that room will give you. Also, the things you buy are extremely easy to put together, and easy to match with other things.

Also, make sure you get things that, though look good and are child-approved (approved FOR and BY the kids), offer a lot of storage room.


Good luck, and make sure you have a lot of fun with this! If you don't have any fun, neither will your kids when the rooms are actually done.

My children destroyed a life sized tree sticker that was on their bedroom wall, where can I find another?

thats a bit loud so youd have to tone down the rest of your room a bit. you can get a copy of 17 magazine or go online and they have a lot of ideas for decorations and stuff. check freshmen 15

Dark Tower/Gunslinger themed toddler room?

Is there a cute way (within the scope of what normal people would call "sanity") to make a Gunslinger/Dark Tower themed toddler's bedroom? I found a poster online of Roland Deschain standing with his.long coat tails flying behind him like a cape in a beautiful sunset. As a tradition, I always decorate the toddler's rooms (my son Roland will be one in October , which is when he will get his own room as I am a super paranoid infant mother and can't live a second without watching my infants breathe at night even with the Snuza AND Angel Care Monitors, but he almost died of a freak illness, super long story) when they first get them and the child inevitably finds an interest around three or so so the gift that year is to redecorate in their style. This is my only son, named for my favorite protagonist and I would like a nice way to tie that into the only time I have total control of the decore of the room. Ideas?
It's really no different than any other "super hero" theme. Also, I said that it is our family tradition AND it is also tradition to redecorate when they are two or three. SURELY you have your OWN traditions, don't you? Lol.....please read more carefully before you make snide, tacky comments or else you just look rather incompetent or illiterate.

To Jamie and anyone else with "real" answers, I do not want loomig figures, guns or the actual tower. That's kind of the point of my question, actually. I want a "cute " way to keep tadition in with our "namesake" decore. My first daughter is Nadia and that was easy, gymnastics decore. Another daughter was named after a family member that lived in the late 1800s so we had a very time period decore with dolls and decore from the period. I don't want a scary, gun themed room, just a namesake room just to add pictures in the baby book and to keep wih our tradition. I think true fans could help and I hope someone who knows what I am talking about sees it. Maybe some cute stuffed animals like "oy" and I don't know what else. I might have to make them, but I can. I like the sunset colors idea a lot.
I could also do cute little hawks . The eagle really doesn't fit with the story but a hawk would. Another idea that I started with was to do a knight theme for another famous Roland, but that's not really HIS Roland. I am still deciding. If I can't find a cute, sane, non threatening way to do DT we will end up with a knight and horses and dragons theme. But I really want to do "his" Roland if I can.

Before I give suggestions, I want to try to dissuade you from doing this.

Even if there's nothing overtly frightening in the room (and leaving alone the guns-kids-bad idea concept) a toddler, especially one sleeping alone in his own room for the first time, will most likely be terrified of a dark, cloaked figure looming over them in the night. Yes? My first suggestion would be to decorate a room of your own with your creative idea, and do something less frightening for your little guy.

That's my opinion, though, and you're the parent, so if you decide to use this decor anyway: I would have the image you chose off in one corner of the room, with the sun setting behind the tower. Pull the /sunset/ colors out to fill the walls of the rest of the room. The ceiling could be a deep rich purple/lavender simulating the night sky. Glow in the dark stars on the ceiling would fit the theme, and make the room more child-friendly.

You could do a soft orange bedside lamp, with a sunset painted shade, or create a lamp shaped like the tower.

Matching curtains or blinds could be created with a soaring eagle in the center.

Coverlets can be sewn to resemble Deschain's long coat, and the pillow could be in the shape of his hat.

And of course, his name painted in bold, fanciful script across one entire wall.

(I have tons of other ideas - but /far/ outside the realm of sanity for a toddler's room)

We want to buy a Recreational Vehicle to live in full time?

In the next 3 years when the kids are off to school my husband and I want to Full Time in an RV. The following is what we are looking for:

Something to tow behind a large truck
Has a "homey" feel and decor
separate bedroom from the rest of the rooms
washer and dryer
a lot of storage
automatic leveling

Something along these lines. Any ideas as to what brands and models we should start looking into?

This can be the adventure of a life time or go the other direction. The key is to plan ahead of time like you are doing, and I suggest that you keep your home so you always have a home base many people sell all they have and hit the open road. The price of gas is a reality check that is harsh these days, you should consider a diesel dually pickup for a tow vehicle and a fifth wheel of some type, but I would suggest a diesel pusher bus of some kind and towing a small car or suv. There are many good reasons for this among them 2 or 3 slide outs, storage space and all the ammenities that you talked about.
I highly recommend that you start going to any RV shows that you hear about, and possibly renting an RV for a week or a month and just taking a trip to see how you like living like that. I did it for many years, and found that the more space you have the better off you are in the long run. And keep in mind that a lot of people follow the weather for example the north coast of california, oregon and washington state in the summer and fall then the snow birds all head south to arizona or to florida in the winter. There is a lot of give and take living in an RV and there is nothing more boring than a winter cooped up inside due to storm after storm and cold dank weather.
So start doing your research now is a great idea, also I believe online still is an outfit called camping world, I got my insurance through them as well as they had stores online RV accessories and I belive there are still a club for RVers that was a lot of fun back when my family did the traveling thing, I lived on the northcoast of california above san francisco In Eureka CA and traveled north as far as canada, there are weeks if not months of areas to explore there, and of course all of canada and alaska above that. It all depends on what your plans are and where you live. Be sure thats the way you want to live before you commit a lot of resources because those nice RVs of any type are not cheap and do your research, there is a lot of look good crap for sale in this world. have fun I loved it

How can I get a surfer style bedroom?

I love brands like Fat Face, Billabong, Roxy etc. and the whole surfer look but I was wondering how to get that style in my bedroom? I've only got a tiny bedroom but I'm up for any suggestions - please add photos if you can.

Answer
I would definitely stay away from creating a too cheesy surfer room. For example, I was looking up some pictures for you and there were cheap grass skirts as the bedskirt for the bed and little tiny surfer lamps and stuffed monkeys and dolphins and stuff....cheesy. To make a gooood surfer room, I'd choose a bright color that you like for the walls or maybe two as in the picture provided below. The room below has lime green and orange but if you like other bright colors better, that'd be okay too. When you look for room examples like this, I always just use the picture as a shell and interchange my color preferences, etc. So paint the walls a bright color, I actually like the blue in the second picture provided for the walls. You'll want to keep white in your room too..the molding around the room, in the bedspread, maybe the bed frame, the dresser and anything you can really. Because you have a really bright wall, you need that white to offset it and make it more beachy and light. So chose your bedspread. There are plenty of bedspreads that are actually billabong and roxy beach spreads if you want that. You can also chose a hawaiian print theme, but I feel like that's borderline cheesy as well. If I were you, I would choose a full white bedspread in a light fabric. Choosing a completely white bedspread will also make the room and your bed feel and look bigger. It's really your preference though, as I know some people love the hawaiian print. I love the wicker in the first room provided. And I love how they painted it, but I also just love wicker plain. So if you're tight on cash or you just like the wicker not painted, just keep it like it is. Wicker just reminds me of outdoor furniture you'd have at a beach house though. I'm not sure what color your carpet is or if you have wood floors. It'd be ideal if you had wood flooring and then I'd add a straw beach mat as the rug at the foot of the bed or at the side of the bed, depending on the positioning of the bed. I'd get white lamps like the one in the first bedroom provided, the two inbetween the two beds on the nightstand. Again, I'm not sure how you are on money, but if you can afford it, I'd definitely splurge on a full sized surfboard to put somewhere in your room, behind a wicker chair or in a corner by itself. I'll provide a link to a cheaper board (in the world of surfboards it's considered very cheap.) I'd also get some beach themed decor. I like the word beach spelled out above the bed in the second picture. I also love the wood nightstand in the second bedroom, you can see the top slats of it, but I would paint it white. I was recently at Marshalls and they had extremely nice and sophisticated beach themed decor that could fill up probably two to three rooms. If you have a Marshalls by you, you should take a look there. Also, TJ Maxx. If not though, I'm sure you can find really cute beach stuff online. Even if you went to a craft store and bought a hurricane candle holder, a pillar candle, and sand and/or shells, that would be awesome to put on your nightstand. You could also buy a cheap starfish and shells online too to put around your room. The options are endless!! :) Here are all the links:
