k?thanks

Answer
There's no such thing as a 'scene' bedroom. I suggest you probably get hellokitty or gloomy bear stuffed animals and colorful bedsheets. Maybe some cute curtins with flowers and a pink rug. The main idea is 'girly' so, I don't think you'll have a problem trying to figure that out.

bedroom ideas please?

Me and my younger sister are swapping rooms and I know what I want for my room but she hasn't a clue she knows she wants her room turcoise , purple any ideas on how to organise it .its medium size. shes 10 and is half girly half tomboy

Answer
BEDDING ;

Try going on Youtube, and find a room tour video with a younger kid, and get inspiration from that.
Try to do something she'll like for a while, even paint can cost a lot when your changing your room color every few months.

Some pretty curtains kind of open up the room , and you can use a big window as a headboard, and frame the curtains around it . Save $$$!

Ideas for kids bedrooms?

NeedAdvice

We just built a new house and we are getting ready to move in. I am wondering if anybody has ideas for themes for their rooms/ decorating ideas??

I have 6 kids so its alot to think about.

a boy age 9, a boy age 7, two girls both 5, and two more boys both 3.

one of the youngest boys i am already doing a jungle theme but i am stuck on all the other rooms.

any advice??

Answer
Jungle theme is so common, don't you think? I mean, no offense.
Make sure to include things the kids like.

For the oldest boy, do something simple but include things like hobbies. Remember, he's going to grow up quick and before you know it, he'll be in middle school, interested in other stuff. Pick colors he likes. Black or wood furniture sounds good to me. For decorations you could do posters of things he likes, such as video games.

For the 7 year old... I suggest cars. I think there's lots of things that you could find that have to do with that. For colors, cars mostly remind me of red, royal blue, and gold. I like the idea of red walls.

It depends if the girls are sharing a room or not. If they are not. Green and purple sounds nice. It would be nice if you did a sort of inverse thing. Like color one girl's walls purple and the other's green, one girl's curtains green and the other purple. Things like that. White furniture would look nice.

For the 3 year old, do a dinousar theme. Colors: green and red. I don't have many suggestions for this one.

decorating bedroom ideas?

i am 18 yrs old ...i want a fun sexy edgy fierce bedroom ...i do like the color pink and fushia and i like the rooms they have on america's next top model...but i just want ideas... i want my room to be vibrant and live and loud because i spend so much time in it so i want it to look fun
the color i have in my bedroom now is yellow and it's boring
so can you help me give my room a makeover? you can include pictures THANKS

Answer
Ok... heres what we're gonna do...

Red and fushia are awesome and spunky. BUT: Bright colors aren't always good on the whole wall. Try a few stripes over your yellow. The colors also look a lot brighter than on the little paint slips but if you're just doing stripes, bright is good. Try doing uneven stripes starting a little below eye level on one of your walls- like a one inch stripe, a foot of yellow, a 7inch stripe, 2 inches of yellow, 4 1/2 inch stripe of fushia or red. By the way those are random guessing measurements so you can get the idea. That blue painter tape will help- use a level to make sure you put it on straight and put two together and paint in between- when you are done, simply peal it off and your lines will be straight.

Now floor pillows are awesome. The first source is a page I found by means of google shopping. Look at those pillows. They are floor pillows, which are pretty fun and MAYBE sexy- how would I know? Haha! Okay so they're a bit expensive. BUT: Remember that these are so that you get the feel of this, you do not need these exact pillows and let's face it- if you could afford to spend THAT much on pillows that will just be on the floor you'd have a proffessional designer, not me.

So. You need curtains. So curtains are a big part, if you have windows. :b So keep up with the color scheme you have going. With bright walls- boring curtains. With boring walls, bright curtains.

Then you need a short love seat type of couch thing. Just big enough for two people.

You also will need art and fun things- after all it IS your room. BUT: TV in a bright room = AAAAAH! NOOOOO! DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Okay, you can think about it. But if you want a TV in your room, put it in a bright cabnit-y type thing so that it can close away and blend in so that your room will be sexy and bright and fierce- while still being a room.

Headboards are important and if you just buy a wooden one or one at a rummage sale you can paint it a color to match, or stain it.

Hope I helped and now I have carpal tunnel... Just kidding and good luck.

girls attic bedroom help?

gina s

I'm re-doing my tweens bedroom. It has one "regular size window" flanked by built in shelves half way down the wall. My dilema is that i want to hide all her stuff behind a pulled back curtain or sheer, but the way the walls are in an attic i can't seem to figure out how to hang them. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
The attic walls slope down on both sides

Answer
OOHH lucky kid!
You can still hang a rod from the top but use weights or another rod in the curtains or shower curtains( those are really cute) bottom. Then they will hang clean and straight down. place top of curtains snuggly to the top of the shelf and let them hang all the way to the floor.

How can I make my bedroom look more mature?

kids bedroom curtain ideas

kids bedroom curtain ideas image

Q. I'm gonna be 16 in a few days and I keep thinking my bedroom looks really childish. How can I make it look more mature? My walls are light yellow and the furniture is cream with wood accents. I love the bedrooms in Pottery Barn (but not PB teens!)
Unfortunately I'm not allowed to buy new furniture or paint/wallpaper my walls...

Answer
It's not the wall color or the furniture - it's the accents. First check out some design magazines for ideas, then look into new fabrics for curtains, bedspreads and throw pillows. Put the kid clutter (your sentimental stuff) into storage bins or decorated boxes (you can make your own by covering lidded boxes with wallpaper or contact paper) and put a plant in your room. A throw rug and chair can create an "adult" sitting area in your room.

How should I redecorate my loft bedroom and sleeping nook?

Kara

I recently moved to the upstairs loft in our house, but the room (while large and spacious) is a little drab. The walls are a faded pale yellow, and the curtains are mismatched. The floor is wooden, but painted a blue/gray color, and the trim and railing above the stairs is a smudged up white. I want to revamp the room entirely, but I don't know how to stay classy and cute while spending as little money as possible. In addition to the loft, there's a small "nook" space, which was built out of part of the attic. It's got enough room for a queen sized air mattress on the floor (which is what my boyfriend and I sleep on), but the ceilings are a bit too short to stand up in. I'd love to make it a sleeping area, but I don't know how to transform it to make it look nice in such a tiny area.

As far as colors, I love purple, but I don't want the room to look childish. I'm a big fan of vintage looks, and I have a daybed in the main loft area which I'd love to do up as a "couch." I just need some cute (and cheap) ideas to get started.

I'm a 21 year old female, if that makes a difference in your opinions. I used to live in this bedroom when my sister and I were little kids, and it still has a very childish feeling to it. I need a more adult room (especially if my boyfriend is going to be here a lot.)

Thanks!

Answer
paint your walls violet
throw a rug over the floor
get some retro curtains from a second hand store
have a lot of "dance" space where you can set up your stereo and blast the music
have your daybed along one wall near your dance space
stick up posters of band performances and gigs that you want to go to
place a vase of flowers on your bedside table
hang up framed pictures of you and your boyfriend in the small area
throw a rug and make the air mattress look comfy
if you have any old cameras put them around your room
hang light bulbs from the ceiling

What is the best situation for my children sharing a room?

Leslie W

I am due with our 3rd child in Feb. I have a 4 year old boy and an 18 month old daughter (we do not yet know the sex of the new baby). We only have 3 bedrooms, so someone has to share. Here is the scoop. My 4 year old is a sound sleeper, my 18 month old is a very light sleeper. My choice would be to have the baby share the romm with the 18 month old, as to not disrupt the feelings of the 4 year old, since he will be emotionally dealing with a new baby anyways, and we don't want him to feel like he is being uprooted. I guess the other choice is for the two older two to share as well. My husband doesn't want us to share our room either since we had both our kids sleeping through the night at 7 weeks in their own cribs, he feel like we should stick with the way we have done it (child in their room in their crib). Help with any ideas is appreciated:) thanks!!!

Answer
Is there any other room that could be utilized for a bedroom, such as basement, family room, extra large walk-in closet for a baby room, dining room? The two younger rooms would create a problem...no sleep for the parents...since the 18 month old is a light sleeper. Both of them will be up in the middle of the night crying at the same time. It would be the best to make the move for the little ones now so it will be easier when the new baby comes in, they will be adjusted to their sleeping quarters. This will eliminate two new adjustments at the same time, new baby and new sleeping arrangements! Children thrive under routine. Just make sure the older one feels he has his OWN personal space, even if you have to have his room divided w/a curtain, or masking tape. This will make him think that he hasn't lost all his privacy. Try to think outside the box, I'm sure that you'll find a terrific solution. Its great that you are planning ahead, this is definitely an advantage! Best wishes!

What are the trends for paint colors for a new home?

Ester

I am building a new house and need help picking colors. The only thing I am decided on is our bedroom will be a dark gray my husband work nights so we need something to make the room darker. I am at a loss on the rest of the house I am seeing alot of tans but I don't think I really want tan. What are the alternatives? Does the whole house need to blend? It is 2 story kids rooms upstairs. Please help.

Answer
Get to the Painting Dept. in either Lowe's or Home Depot. They can so u many selections. I am not sure why u must paint your bedroom dark b/c your husband works at night. U can have heavy curtains, with blinds to block out the sun for him to sleep. Of course u don't have to paint the room white but u have many dark colors in any family group. Still no direction look at design shows on HG TV. Get on line to the websites also. They can help. Get magazines like Woman's Day or Design Mags that have pic on different rooms in the house. U go with what u like. Its no use to get a white kitchen if u don't feel it no matter what the trend is. (White kitchens is not the trend but u get the idea). Make your house a home for u and your fam. Good luck and congrats on the new home.

How to decorate a hunter green room into a kids room?

gr8mom

We just moved into a rental home. So excited but one of the bedrooms is HUNTER GREEN! That's not even the worse part. It has a deer at a pond border going all the way around the room. Its a guys type room. I don't have any boys just girls and we want to turn this into the play room. We got them a multi colored pink and purple lamp and a purple carpet to try to lighten it up. But does anyone have any other ideas. No we can not paint. Thanks for your time!

Answer
You could hang lines (either retractable clothes lines, or tension rods), to drape curtains or fabric from, around the entire room.

Where is the wallpaper border at? If it is at the top, you could hang valances around the room to cover that and leave the rest of the walls green (see below)- either white so it would blend in with the ceiling or perhaps a cloud print.

With the green walls, you could use accessories to give it a fairies in the forest theme/feeling.

Have you asked about painting? It is not very expensive, and you could present it as your doing an upgrade FOR the landlord and that make him/her more open to it.
