Creative ideas for kids bedrooms?

Amarie

Ok, I have 2 girls ages 13 and 10 that share a bedroom. One wants the bedroom painted Longacre. The other wants it painted Apricot Lily. Here are the ideas I have thought about...1. Stripes using both colors. 2. Painting the bottom half Longacre and the top half Apricot Lily and maybe adding a chair rail or a border. 3. Just taking 2 paintbrushes and "slinging" both colors all over the wall, lol. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The bedroom is small and to be honest its not a big deal to me how it gets painted. But the previous tenants did a "half-a$$ed" job trying to paint it. We have total freedom to paint or remodel however we like. Maybe I should just turn the girls loose with the paint and see what they come up with, lol. Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Longacre is a kind of greenish-blue color.

I like the swirls idea!!

Answer
to be honest, i don't have any idea what color "longacre" is...i'm guessing the other color is a pastel apricot, and it coordinates well with the longacre?

what i would do is paint two opposite walls a neutral like white or eggshell and then paint each of the other walls in one of your girls color choices. then both girls will have their "own" wall, and and maybe they can even have the say as to what goes on the wall in their color - art, bulletin boards, etc. you can try to pick up both colors with accessories around the room like pillows and lamps in order to blend the colors throughout the room.

have fun!

Kid's Room Decorating Ideas?

Bryan

I'm looking for decorating ideas for my 8 year-old son's bedroom. We're looking for something interesting and unique. We've seen a lot of "kid's fantasy" themes, which are neat but not quite it. Also, we don't want anything pretentious or too "artsy" - this is a kid's room after all.

I'd like to have something done to the ceiling perhaps. It always seem to get left out in pretty much all the decorating schemes we've seen. Any ideas?

Answer
I have the perfect solution for you and your son, it's super unique, not like the same old stuff you've seen over and over! Stargazing ceiling murals of the night sky! It glows in at the dark and can't be seen during the day time so your room theme looks normal but at night, in the dark, thousands of stars will glow for hours. Just like the other person commented, you can get cloud murals by day and pair it with stars at night for the ultimate day/night experience, very realistic! Your 8 yr old would LOVE it. I have a niece that is 10 and recently got it in her room after seeing it in her sisters rooms for years (she finally got her own room). If you don't go for the full mural, there are even cosmic posters that you can place over any existing poster to turn it into a stargazing window, all very cool and kids really love it.
