Answer
Redecorating your room sounds like fun! Try to relax and enjoy the process.
It's good to know what you don't want and that you have some idea of the colors you like. However, you need to ask yourself a few questions before you get started. Think about how you want to use your room: Sleeping only, having friends over to hang out, sleepovers, studying, reading, practicing a musical instrument, watching TV, etc.
Once you have a use goal in mind you can better choose your furniture: bed with a pullout underneath, comfy chairs and/or floor pillows, large/medium/small desk, open shelves or storage with doors, etc. In my humble opinion, I think it's neat to have double-duty furniture: footstool with storage inside; bench/locker at the end of your bed for storage but has pillows on top to use as extra seating; nightstands that have drawers; wall shelf with hooks underneath; etc.
Do a google images search for "purple and blue bedroom" and see what you get!

Consider purchasing fabric that has the colors you like with a design that really makes you happy. Then either make a bedspread or curtains out of it and pick one of the more subtle colors from it to paint your walls.
Whatever you decide to do, remember to add a little of each color all around the room. That makes for a more pleasant look and your eye will move naturally around giving you a good feel. A little bit of color goes a long way, too.
Also, consider going monochromatic (shades of one color) and get items with various textures to makes your room very interesting. Then use the other color as accents here and there.
Get creative and create your own wall decorations or find some photo that is the perfect color and speaks to what you like and have it blown up poster size at Kinkos and frame it!

This would be so cool as a poster!

If you find a rug that is fun and perfect - consider putting it on the wall as art or maybe as a headboard.
As you look online at how other teens/people have decorated their bedrooms - don't look past the ones that don't match your color scheme. Look at each one hunting for ideas that you like and can use for your own room but simply change out the colors!
One more thing. I can almost guarantee you that in a couple of years you will probably want to change your room again. Keep that in mind before you go crazy with too much color or with a theme of some kind. Even high end decorators will tell people to consider using neutrals on all your furniture (the highest cost of any room usually) and use color in your decorations and accent items and such which are less costly to replace in a few years if necessary. Not only will your parents be proud of your choices - but you will be REALLY glad you did that when your taste changes as you grow older.
Hope I have been some help. Have fun decorating!
