Looking for some decorating ideas for my girls' bedroom....?

pinkeye198

I have a 7 year old and a 2 year old. The 2 year old is still in her own room but I bought bunk beds for when she is old enough to share a room with her sister, so that I can turn her room into a toy room. We painted the walls a light shade of purple two years ago so anything that would go with purple. The carpet is an off white/cream color. I just got myself a sewing machine and I'm interested in making my own things as well so any ideas or tips in that regard would also be helpful. Please help...with color ideas and such, that would make both kids happy! I'm pretty clueless about this stuff yet!!
Thank you!

For little girls pinks and lilacs go well with purple walls and white carpet, also silvers and whites in smaller areas. Maybe you could try making your own cushions in a nice fabric that will match with bedlinen and the room colours. Cushions would be a fairly easy first project and you could give them one each specifically, or do several. If you can, you could make matching curtains and find a rug and beanbags that go with the rest of the room. For furniture such as wardrobe/table you could have them in a shade of purple, and if you already own these, you can still paint them. Stencils are also fun, especially shooting stars in silver across the furniture and even walls - these are not too difficult to paint over when the girls are older.

I need ideas for a 2 year olds bedroom?

This weekend we are going to completly redo the computer room and turn it into Kallan's bedroom. Hes been in our room since he was born and now its time he gets his own room (Actually, it was that time a while ago but it failed and he came right back into our room) I want to make it fun so hes okay with it this time so were going to give it a theme and go all out for it. I want something that we aren't going to have to redo in a few years tho...Something thats cute but he will still like for a while...I'll list a few things he likes and if you have any other ideas then please, suggest them :)
Hes only 2 right now so something that can last him until hes atleast 6? Maybe longer?

He likes:
Sports. Hes a little young to really play but he loves trying to play with his dad and cousins. Playing baseball (technically t-ball) is his favorite.
Trains. Obsessed with Thomas the train and watching the train that goes by the house every day.
Cars - He loves the movie Cars and playing with his regular hotwheels and just car stuff.

Im kinda leaning towards the Car theme or Sports. I know a few kids who loved trains and then got a little older and they became boring...What do you think? Suggest some ideas too if you can.
K- What the hell are you talking about...?
You guys are just plain stupid but thanks to the ones who give REAL answers.

Answer
He'll outgrow any 'themes'. Maybe paint the walls and carpet the room in bright but fairly neutral colours and add 'theme' by way of curtains, lamp shades, pictures etc. Then when he wants a change it's easy (and cheaper) to buy new curtains than redo the whole room.

If you want him to use the room you'll be best to involve him in decorating it and making it exciting that he is going to get his own big boys room so get him to choose; ask him if he wants a Thomas room or whatever.

I think personally I'd do a non specific jungle room or something like that so it will last longer than his current phase as it isn't so specific and he won't turn round and say 'Thomas is for babies'.

Good luck, hope he settles in it.
