Corpus Chrisit, Texas hotels?

What is the best Hotel on North Padre Island?

Answer
...we donât stay in local hotels very often. However, my kids have gone on mini-vacations to the Island and they adore this one:

1)
Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort
CORPUS CHRISTI-N PADRE ISLAND

"Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort in Corpus Christi, Texas is North Padre Islandâs only full service hotel located directly on the Gulf of Mexico. Hand painted murals surround the lobby and every guestroom has a microwave and mini-fridge, plus all standard amenities. Many even offer an ocean view and a balcony. Seasonal childrenâs activities, an outdoor playground, and an indoor game room create a perfect family beach vacation. The two large outdoor swimming pools overlook the natural beauty of the ocean. Live weekend entertainment is provided at the outdoor Sand Bar from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Corporate guests can conduct business with a choice of 3 meeting rooms. Our full service restaurant, the Jolly Pelican, and indoor bar complete this perfect hotel package! Golf and tennis are less than 1 mile from the hotel. The USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier Museum and the Texas State Aquarium are 22 miles away. Downtown Corpus Christi provides night life fun, daily fishing and sightseeing boats and bicycle rentals. For sports enthusiasts, check out the Hooks or Aviators baseball at Whataburger Field, Hammerhead Football, the Rayz Hockey team, and the Texas A & M Islander basketball team. The Texas Treasure Casino Ship is just 20 minutes from the hotel. Nature is at its best, so fish from Bob Hall pier, kayak around Packery Channel, surf at J. P. Luby Park, boat around Bird Island, or walk the many birding trails around the Coastal Bend. The memories are free and yours to keep!"

If you want history then try the Tarpon Inn - Franklin D. Roosevelt used to stay there when he came down to fish. It actually was built back in 1886 out of lumber left over from Civil War barracks, and was used to house the workers for the Mansfield Jetty at Aransas Pass. It became a hotel after that and was thoroughly rebuilt after the 1919 hurricane with special reinforcing pilings that go through the whole structure top to bottom. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and has 24 rooms, each very different but each with A/C, heating, private bath, access to the shady porch with plenty of rocking chairs, and furnished with antiques. One thing it does not have are televisions and telephones in the rooms, although for the electronically addicted they do have wi-fi. They also have a new pool.

Another one my kids love is this one because of its amazing pools. It is actually condominiums so each place has a kitchen, bathroom, living room and bedroom(s). Some are individually owned and some belong to the resort so state of repair and style of decor varies. Ask for one of the recently remodeled units for the best repair (but this is not luxury accomodations - it is just a place at the beach):

Port Royal Ocean Resort & Conference Center

6317 State Highway 361
Port Aransas, TX 78373
(361) 749-5011 port-royal.com
The web site says:
"The most recreationally complete resort condominium facility on the Texas Gulf Coast. Port Royal offers a premier beachfront location with 25 acres of recreation and relaxation. With 210 luxurious condominium suites and over 7,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, Port Royal can meet most any need - for business or pleasure. The pools include elaborate water slides (the slides close in mid-November for the winter season), There is also a private boardwalk to the beach, 2 lighted tennis courts, outdoor shuffleboard, water & sand volleyball courts, horseshoes. Fishing, golf and daily sailing adventures are nearby."

I need some room ideas/themes!!!?

Beach Babe

Ok, so i'm moving and have a new room. I want my room to be like a beach type theme. So any links/pictures would be great.
Next I have a walk-in closet (not connected to my room) I know I want a pink/zebra stripes/princess look for my closet, again any links/pictures would be great!
Third, my bathroom...I think i would like a paris theme for that but feel free to put any ideas up!
And last I also may have a living room/hang out room. What would you do (if you were a teen or already are) for a hang out room. (colors, designs, things to hang up, etc.) Thanks for all the help!!!!

Answer
BEDROOM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a beach-themed room, paint the walls blue and have white or oak trim. Have a white ceiling (makes the room look bigger and brighter) and tan or beige floors (like sand). Hang fish nets, lighthouses, and other beach pictures on the walls. You can find decorative sea shells and other beach items at craft stores and some furniture stores. If you want, you can get an image wallpaper of a sunset or the ocean. Other ideas are to hang a hammock in your room, set up a tiki bar, get decorative surf boards, etc. Put up a boarder that is beachy. If it were my room, I would have a brigth pink comforter and a pink hibiscus flower boarder because I like the beach and I like pink.

Here are some sample rooms for you:

CLOSET ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paint the inside of your closet pink and get a stencil to paint zebra stripes on the back wall. Have white trim and a white ceiling to get that princess look and to keep the closet big and bright. You can also buy pink hangers for your clothes (I have them). If there is an outlet in the closet, you can line the ceiling with pink Christmas lights. You could also put down a pink zebra rug.

Here are some pink closets. I'm not sure that they are what you're looking for, but they may help you think of good ideas.

BATHROOM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paint the walls blue and then stencil in a black silouette of the Eiffle tower. Also paint some stars. A Paris-at-night scene would be really awesome. If you google "Eiffle tower bathroom accessories" you should be able to find some neat stuff for your bathroom.

LIVING ROOM ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Make sure you have a TV and plenty of room to lounge (lots of chairs). Make the room welcoming and fun, but now tacky (ie: neon paint). I'm sure you'll think of something cool to do here.
