Toddler bedroom decor...?

My daughter just moved to a "big girl" bed and so I went out and bought her a new bedspread and all white furniture. The comforter is bright pink, lime green, purple, orange and teal. I am trying to decide what color to paint the walls. I was thinking of doing a lighter green (like lime but lighter) and then doing a bright pink stripe around the room, or else painting the room a light teal with a purple stripe...does that sounds too "grown up" for a 2 year old? I want it to be a room she can grow into but I don't want the colors/design to be too much for her. What do you think? Any other cute decorating ideas? I hate just one color walls so I'm trying to use two colors to decorate...Thanks!

I think a soft lime green with a medium pink strip would be adorable! I don't think it would be too grown-up. It should serve her well into preteens, at least! Another idea for longevity in a kid's bedroom: paint the walls a solid color and then decorate them with the peel and stick "Wallies" or other precut images that can be adhered to the wall temporarily. You could put some flowers or butterflies on the wall now, and then when she gets older and wants something different, you could put polka dots or something geometric like that. Good luck!

Temporary Decorating Ideas?

We live in on-post housing overseas so we are only allowed to make non-permanent changes to our home. I want to add some color and life to it, especially in the kids bedrooms and play room but am having trouble with ideas. Our furniture can only liven it up so much so I was wondering if anyone knew of any way to add to the walls without damaging them. I've considered painting but am afraid of covering it well enough for inspection. I heard once that you can "paper" your walls with fabric and such using starch but am nervous. Can anyone help me with some suggestions? Thank you.

Wallies or other brand is a good decor option.
With all the rules with base housing it is best if you look over your contract, call and ask questions about paint. and hanging pictures mirrors and other things. They will tell you clearly about these rules even tell you the types of hardware others purchase.
Most places require only a primer be put up not a total repaint job. So ask about your location.
Consider doing just a focus wall in color.
Sheer curtains do alot for rooms they add both life and color.(stamping can be done, iron ons)
you can even boost your curtains you have now with some beads or shells even some trim will add elements of interest.
If you sew that will help if you dont there is products the require just a iron for a hem one is Stitch Withery tape and a Iron, check with the other wives/husbands on decor..I know there are meet and greets just bring up decor.(some places have a self help for decorating)
I know the wallies can be expensive so check around for pricing.
Not sure if your walls are smooth to hold wallies.
3m makes good products for easy removal of pictures and other things.
If you have those metal doors use magnetic frames and add photoos or pictures to kids doors.
If you have trim there are trim hooks and some wire you can use for art or fabric.
Double sided tape can do lots of things, add a decor element with self print pictures,or even add some tiles around the back of the sink. (measure space and buy what you need, try to use things from the dicontinued section or modpodge a picture over the top of tiles, wood, just seal if using behind sink.
Try to make areas for the children in the respective rooms separate the sleeping from the study, crafting areas. this inspires children, gives a sense of home, add a area rug for reading or craft areas, study area.
Carpet rements can be whip stitched with a bold color of yarn around edges use a large needle curved.(you can pre stab through the carpet rements with a ice pick or a awl for ease of adding yarn, add tassels if you want by making your own with the yarn)
vynil remnts can be cut into rugs and painted These can be made into game boards like tic tiac toe or checkers.
There is washable paint which you can do a tree or other..scene. for the kids room.
Yes non prepasted wall paper or borders can have starch aplied and wips clean after removal.
liquid blue starch
Clutter is the bigest problem any homemaker faces I have found keeping areas focused on use is helpful. Key rack, homework area family game area, toys kept in rooms or one piece comes out and goes back, hampers, baskets all help.
:note not all 2 sided tape is removablewith ease or is remvable, goof off, hair dryer is a friend.
