If so, I say to them:

Stop wasting MY money on drugs, alcohol, wireless phones, satellite TV, internet connections, computers, etc. and go buy an INSURANCE plan. What? You want the government to give it to you so you can continue to waste MY money while I pay for your insurance too?

Move to France.

Answer
Dad is that you?

Before you take offense, I'll let you know, I think my Dad should be President.

His Qualifications? Dropped out of college. Served two years in the Army, Honorable Discharge. Married 40 years. Has gone to church every Sunday since before I can remember. Father of 7 kids. Worked for a refinery (blue collar) for 30 years. Fiscally responsible. Never put his wants before his needs. We had one TV, one phone line, he drove an old beat up car til it cost more to have fixed, than it would for another $500 car. We did get one new car, a station wagon, he paid cash, no car payments. The 9 of us lived in a house that was originally two bedrooms, one bath, with an attached garage. As the family grew he converted the dining room into a bedroom, then the garage, then built on another large bedroom and bath. We didn't take vacations. We didn't wear designer clothes. We weren't lavished with gifts, like cars or computers, or video game systems. We were given chores, and if we completed them an allowance. We were given 3 meals a day. It might be hamburger casserole in some form 6 days a week, but we never went hungry. He bought us bikes when we said we wanted to get paper routes, he bought us a good used lawn mower, when we started a lawn mowing business. We went to the dr for regular visits, and the dentist and 4 of us to the optomitrist, and one to the orthodontist. We were bought new clothes for school, and if we wanted something overpriced, like Nike high tops, we used our own money. Our furniture was bought at auctions, and almost everything else at Sears before Walmart came around. What none of us knew, was that Dad could have bought us almost any of that junk. We could have had a bigger house and fancy clothes. What we did get, besides everything we needed, was what Dad called a head start. Dad saved his money, maybe we were entitled to it, we were all good kids that got decent grades and didn't cause the police to ask questions about us. But Dad, starting when each of us were born until we turned 18, placed $20 every two weeks into our own savings accounts. We all used it for college. We all got degrees. Dad retired from that refinery job at 55. He had over $250K in his 401K, his mortgage was paid off, and he has virtually no debt. He drives a used car and he takes Mom out once a week, they visit my sister in Texas for a vacation. He has a satellite TV and the internet. He tries to sell people life insurance, not really a job, but he doesn't like the idea of not being productive. I really don't think Dad needs to pay anyone elses bills either. As Dad would tell us, if you want something, you have to be able to afford it and everything else you need. Credit is for fools, and just another way to spend what you don't have, on things you don't need. Don't waste money, you'll need it someday.

I just had my son's room painted army green and daughter's room nice purple - what kind of??

....bedsheets and drapes will match? I got him a bunk bed, he is only 5. Any website where I can go to check out different colors and match? Thank you.

Answer
Okay---first things first. When redecorating a bedroom, one should always pick out the bedding first, prior to painting. Then you pull the colors from your comforter, sheets, etc. to decide on colors for your walls, and additonal fabrics such as those found in your drapes, pillows, etc. But--since you have already painted the walls first, you will need to back track a little. Not a big deal--we can fix this. Go back to the paint store and pick out paint chips that are those of the paint that you had selected. Next, decide on what style or theme you want their rooms to convey--and go shoppng! Look for bedding in the style, theme, and paint colors (make sure you have your paint chips in hand) . Believe it or not, the best places to buy children's bedding is Sears and J C Penney. I am in interior design and I shop at those two places all the time. For a fun and updated look, make sure sure you add a secondary color and an accent color, that you scatter throughout the room (in decorations, wall hangings, pillows, toys, etc). For the purple, try adding another shade of purple as well a a pale yellor or pale pink. For the army green, try adding a light blue, a goldenrod yellow, or even brown. Also, if you need a little more inspiration--check out Pottery Barn for Kids---they have some awesome ideas that you can duplicate to fit into your budget. Be creative, Have fun, and Good Luck!
