Any recommendations for a nice part of Oahu to stay in outside of Waikiki?

Q. We (3 adults and 3 babies) will probably be going to Waikiki to see the sights and shop quite often, but we don't want to stay in Waikiki. I'm looking for a nice vacation condo somewhere close to the beach or mountains and yet driveable to Waikiki since we'll have a car. Any ideas for somewhere safe and peaceful since my 3 boys are very young at 5,2, and 2. We'll be there for about 10days. Thanks!!

Welcome to Hawaii, ok? So hea the thing bout Oahu, parking in Waikiki very spensive, figure 25 buck a day if yo uwanna park near beach, and while some public parking, ova by zoo, it fill up most day by 8 or 9 inna morning, ok? Now, for sure stay way from leeward of island, that mean no go to Makaha, ok? Yeah, cheap condo there rite now, and renter gonna say it very safe there, but for sure it not, too much drug, alcohol, and lotta homeless people onna beach, ok? So, notta good vacation place for you, ok? Now it spensive to park in Waikiki, figure 25 buck for the day IF YOU CAN FIND it, ok? Most hotel won't let you park less you stay there now, cause of shortage of space, and liability, ok? They do have some metered parking ova by the zoo, but for sure most that filled by 9 am, so can't depend on that, yeah? Same with metered lots, parking justa problem so know that before you drive to Waikiki, ok? Now, for sure there some great condo deal between Waikiki and Diamond head, not rite in Waikiki, but still close nuff to walk, even with little ones, and gotta great beach, so check out "diamondheadcondo.com", you see what I mean, ok? Now of course new disney hotel and Marriot, and coupla otha ova Aulani area, nice place, manufactured beach, little spensive, notta condo, but far from Waikiki, like almost 20 miles, and lotta traffic hea, so can take ova 1 hour to go that far, even onna good day, ok? Now, you already decide that you not wanna stay Waikiki, but I gonna tell you bout one more place, it in Waikiki, call the Aston Tower Condo, it not too well known, but finest kinda place, you getta tow bedroom 2 bath condo, with great view of ocean, if you above the 17 floor, (they got 40), and very quiet, very safe, and for sure you gonna love, and kid can walk easy to beach, to eat, and condo got full kitchen, you can cook or make sandwich, so consider that too, ok? What are some good gender neutral kids bedroom theme's?
Q. when my new baby boy is born he will be sharing a room with my daughter who will be two. I want to do their room a theme that is neither boyish or girlish. any ideas's..pics???
