Are allergic reactions to dogs usually immediate or does it take time to show up?
Sharyl
We rescued a puppy 3 weeks ago and everything was going great until 2 days ago when my husband woke up with swollen, itchy eyes. Could it be the dog? I don't see dog hair and I vacuum twice a week and bathe her twice a week. She does not go into our bedroom. My kids will be heartbroken if we have to remove her from our home. She is tiny so living outside is not an option. She is a Chihuahua/Papillion mix. HELP!
Answer
It depends on the severity of the allergy but in this case it is highly unlikely. If your husband had an allergic reaction it would have occurred within 24 hours of contact with the animal. Dog hair is not an allergen, humans are allergic to the saliva and skin of animals.
Most likely your husband has gotten a minor infection. A visit to a doctor should clear up any confusion. Something else to consider is pollen allergies, the best way to rule out pollen allergies is with an allergy test. These can be very uncomfortable but can improve or sometimes save lives.
Again I want to stress that is incredibly unlikely this is an allergic reaction to the dog, which you stated you have had for around 3 weeks. Allergic reactions occur within very short time frames, usually immediately, if it was a mild reaction it would have been persistent since he had been in contact with the dog and would regress whenever he was away from the dog, such as at work.

How to decorate a room when the kids are sharing one room?
kruncky200
I have a 2 year old boy, a 6 months girl.. we are moving to a house that hase two bedrooms for the kids, one of them is REALLY big and it has two walk in closet, the other one is small one wlak in closet, and there is another sun room looking thing attach to it(a door separats it, has lots of windows). my ? is should they share or what should i do?
Answer
give the big room to your son. he's the one able to use the space not and he's got seniority. period. if you have them share now, at some point, when that becomes inappropriate, you will have a mess on your hands deciding who moves into the smaller room.
i do believe in treating kids fairly when within reason, but for this, you've got to make a choice. if it because a problem just say..."because i'm the parent and that's what i decided.
when they're older, you could also make up a schedule for the rooms, like switch off every two years or something. tell them if they want that they need to work together to make it possible, like not painting one room pink or whatever. but that's waaaaaaaay down the road!!! don't bite off more that you can (or want) to chew.
just make a decision. it's what the parents do!
good luck!
