A. Making a Loft Bedroom
Step 1Select a loft bed as the anchoring piece of furniture for the room. These are manufactured for all different tastes and budgets. While some are no more than a bed built on stilts, the best ones are built atop of dressers and a desk, to create a multi-functional space.
Make sure the bed will fit appropriately in the space. Many loft beds are large and need to fit into the room in a certain way, if it's got a desk or other features. Take into account any closet doors or windows that could impede function. You don't want to get a huge, expensive piece of furniture home, then find out you can't open your closet door.
Step 2Decide what the space under the bed will be used for. How old is the user? What are their interests? Will they be playing with dolls or video games here? Should there be a study space? Personalize the space for the user.
Step 3Furnish the space under the bed. Choose furniture that is lower to the floor, like beanbags instead of easy chairs, so that when you stand up you don't hit your head. Add a light; clip lights work well. If there's no shelving built in, add a small bookcase underneath for added storage.
Get creative with the space. Hang curtains to create a kid's clubhouse. Set up a video-game station for teens. Make an under-the-bed closet for a fashionista. The space can be changed around as tastes change.

Can bunkbeds be for teenagers or adults, or are they just for little kids.?
Q. I am 16, but have been wanting a bunkbed because they are high up (I love heights!) and I can use the bottem bunk to store my pillow collection. What do you think?
A. Missy, Go for it! Be creative. There are fantastic loft systems (bunkbeds) that are flexible enough to create whatever space you may want underneath. They are available in twin, full and even queen sizes. Furniture can be both age appropriate and need specific. Check to see if you have an unfinished furniture store in your area, they often have this type of furniture at very good prices.
Imagine, underneath the bed you can have a bookcase with your pillow collection scattered about. Add a reading lamp or a television and you have created a great get-away spot! In your bedroom!!!

What does your Dream Home look like?
Q. You can give a description and/or post a link to a pic or floorplan if you want. Don't forget to mention the location!
A. Mine is way far out of my range. It would be a 3 story built into the side of a hill. with large wall of windows on the south side. Inside the first floor would be an open concept living room, dining room kitchen. Stone fire place going all the way up to the roof. behind it would be the rec room with a pool that goes outside and a wall of water flowing to keep the bugs out. it would separate the inside and out. Back inside standing in the living room you can look up at the loft walkway that leads to the bedrooms. The 3rd floor level would be like a penthouse suite for the guests. The master bed room would be on the other side of the living room and would have 2 levels. The lower level would have the bed and furniture. the half spiral stair case would swing around and take you up stairs to a large room with a glass ceiling. so you can watch the stars at night or sit in a sunny room in the day. there would be a walk in shower with half smoked glass on the bottom and coke glass on the top. walk in closet changing room, she gets a make up studio room with the tall bar seats and 360' mirror there would be multi levels of deck build like you was on an old british war ship with sails instead of umbrellas and an outside glass elevator. The view from the living room would be a large plain with large hills or mountains across the way. I would have Windmill and solar. my own garden and winery with vineyard. Heck I might even let the kids bungee jump over the living room from the 3rd floor. Oh, their bedroom would have a slide in the window that leads to the pool and play ground with all the tubes and climbing stuff. This is just part of my dream home, and yes, I will keep dreaming, so the misses says! ha ha!
Websites for teen bedroom furniture?
Q. I just moved and I'm looking for new bedroom furniture. I want something really modern and spunky and new. I really like color too. I was looking at loft beds and high/mid rise beds and really liked those. I looked pbteen and Liked it but it was really expensive!
A. They have some really fun things at TheFurnitureDomain.com. Some of them are listed as though they are technically for kids, but I'm 30 and I'd gladly buy them if my fiance wasn't so determined to be a grown-up! I'll include a few links below to pieces I think you'll like! :)
