What are modern window treatments for a bedroom that are kid-safe/kid-proof?

Q.

A. No such thing as kid proof, especially with boys. The most durable window treatment are pvc blinds. Not the cheap kind- the really thick and sturdy kind. Have them professionally installed. They can be cleaned with soap and water- just make sure you don't leave the strings hanging, if you have small children. And put up a decorative topper of your choice to go with your decor.

how to i create a cool outer space bedroom for my son. furniture colours wallcolours websites that may help ??
Q. I want to paint a big space mural on the wall.. but am afraid if i do the walls black they will look to closed in... I want the whole room to flow. The room will be for a nine year old boy if that helps. Can any decorators out there help me

A. Here is something you can use on ceiling of on wall. If you use a Star grid on a wall then frame around it so it looks like a view screen that he peering out into the stars in space

Get some space ship models and if you go for the star ceiling hang them from the ceiling.

Whats a good theme for a baby boy?
Q. The fun part is finally here! I should say "A fun part" I've actually really enjoyed my pregnancy! I had my 20 week ultrasound yesterday and Im so happy to have a boy! Just want some ideas on how to decorate for him. I was thinking a sea theme but Im not in love with that idea. Any suggestions?

A. Can't go wrong with a jungle. A baby one with lots of block colours will give him plenty to look at during the day when it's nice and bright. You could have a look at the wall stickers on amazon, they have tons of baby/toddler/kid bedroom decor. You could paint the walls a pale yellow or blue and a big block of green along the bottom of the walls (maybe with some flicks going up to show it's grass) and then stick some trees and jungles animals around.

Something like these (amazon links)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/RoomMates-Repositionable-Childrens-Stickers-Adventure/dp/B0013RE69K/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1336606542&sr=1-2

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sleeping-Wall-Sticker-children-bedroom/dp/B007HR9VY0/ref=sr_1_6?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1336606542&sr=1-6

Those are just a few examples. There are LOADS more different ones to choose from. I just typed in baby bedroom stickers and these are some of the ones that showed up.
Good luck and I hope I helped

what do i need to do and buy to re paint my bedroom?
Q. my mom has said i can re decorate my room as long as i buy all the paint etc but to be honest i havent got a clue, if i was left to do it on my own i would probably just go and buy some paint, and wack it all on the wall. but it cant be as easy as that can it :s so can anyone tell me like what different things i'd need to buy and how to go about painting my room?

A. Don't worry! It really CAN be that easy if you're decorating a small kid's room! However, if you're doing a big makeover on a teens room, especially a girl's, it can require a bit more planning!

First off, get a theme or colour scheme. For example, you could decorate your room in a shabby-chic style or maybe a more glamorous movie-star theme! It's up to You! If you don't want a theme then just get a colour scheme. Say, bright candy-apple green and lollipop pink! This can look AMAZING! This is a website with lots of different themes. Just click on the themes in the top left-hand corner for inspiration!

Move around your furniture if you think it will look better with, say, the bed under the window and your desk near the door. Now buy your bedding, paint, and curtains, as these can really change a room! Buy bedding that either matches your paint or is in a coordinating colour. Look at these websites or Google around for ideas and pictures!

You colud paint all your walls, just one accent wall behind the bed, (This is what I did in my room! :D ) or you could do stripes or wallpaper! It's up to you!

Once you've got your basics, do the really fun part. Shopping! Bring a friend if you like and go to lots of different shops. Try to look out for...
Beanbags,
Floor cushions,
Mirrors,
Wall Art,
Cute Furniture like trunks that you can store stuff in!
Lamps,
A cool headboard,
An area or accent rug (This is quite important!)
And stuff like that.

Display medals & trophies you've won, framed school papers, photos and general treasures to personalise your room. Have fun and enjoy it and don't forget Fairy Lights!
